Foden was very lucky not to see red for a dreadful rake down the
back of the Achilles on Bassey.
Red cards have been issued for similar challenges, and VAR waved
it away in the blink of an eye.
Cairney committed a very similar challenge at Spurs last season
and was binned by 007 after review.
It wouldn’t have affected the result but it was a poor decision
all round.
Tete was also very lucky not to see red for a hair pull in the
first half.
Not great from the officials this evening…

Shocking from Neil Davies on var to clear both red card
incidents. Both clear reds for me.
Didn’t see game so cant comment on tierney overall performance

Cannot comment on the hair pull but the Foden challenge -
there’s only one word to describe that - spiteful.
Paul Tierney gave a yellow card but for the life of me, I cannot
understand the lack of an OFR to upgrade it to red. It’s a rake
down the back of the leg and it is spiteful and dangerous.
Ok, the game was done but a red card is a red card, irrespective
of the state of the game. Not particularly good from both
officials.

I'll have to take another look at the Foden challenge, didn't
get a clear view at the game.
Didn't notice the Tete hair pull incident at all, but baffling
that Mr Tierney didn't apply the totting up process for the
fouls involving Tete that he did spot, which felt more than the
other players on the pitch combined. By contrast Silva got a YC
for his first foul, when arguably a free-kick could suffice.
On the credit side, there was a good advantage played by Mr
Tierney, after a foul on Haaland, which led to the second goal.

Guardiola was also carded despite coasting along at 3-0 and he
was not happy at the full time whistle where he was having a
very heated rant at the officials about something.

That's an absolute shocker of a decision to not see it first
time around, or for VAR to decide no input needed.

this incident is exactly the thing that i get annoyed about with
VAR - the onfield team can miss things due to line of sight,
speed of action, off the ball incident etc etc but VAR has all
the angles and the ability to re-watch. city had effectively
already won the game and losing foden at this point wouldn't
have affected the result a great deal BUT, in the same way that
the cherki 'goal' on sunday, wouldn't have changed much in the
actual game, it MIGHT have ramifications later in the season -
although city have strength in depth, foden missing for a few
games, could have caused city problems in the title run-in.

If Webb defends the YC for that Foden foul, we might as well
give up trying to understand what constitutes SFP. I wonder what
the panel will conclude.
Very poor that none of the onfield officials thought it a red
card and even worse that VAR didn't consider it a clear and
obvious error.
I remember Rooney correctly being sent off for a similar sort of
foul years ago.
