Gavin Ward - Sheffield United v Middlesbrough

Not an official that gets an awful lot of praise on here but
have to say I think he’s been excellent thus far. Only one thing
I can think of which looked wrong which was not giving a FK for
a foul on Brooks.
He’s been very consistent and played advantage many a time - one
of which in particular was excellent and led to a Boro
opportunity. Correct no penalty call for a challenge on Brittain
too.
A great advert for the championship this - fast-paced and
brilliant attacking football. I don’t like to say it as an
Ipswich supporter but Middlesbrough are an exceptional
footballing side - so positive in everything they do and it’s a
joy to see such brilliant attacking football in a time where
defensive structures and ‘dark arts’ are a large part of modern
football.

That’s a good decision to bin off Rothwell for SFP for me.
Cannot go flying into challenges like that with that much force
and that challenge certainly ticks the box for excessive force.

How can this be allowed - ridiculous.

In the distant past, whenever I have watched Gavin Ward he has
never filled me with great confidence particularly regarding his
foul detection and consistency of his decisions. Nothing I could
pin and I feel I am being a little disrespectful towards a
referee that is regularly getting big fixtures in the
Championship. What I saw last night was an excellent performance
from the referee, a fascinating match and a superb performance
from Middlesbrough. Yes there was the odd decision regarding
what was a foul but show me a referee under current guidelines
who doesn't have this problem. WBA and Birmingham tonight for
me.

If both keepers have the same colours and no change the referee
allows the match to proceed. At the level in question it
shouldn’t happen and my feeling is that the keeper should not be
allowed in the penalty area as it would be difficult to tell
which yellow arm had put the ball in the net.
An idea for the ruling bodies, and free of charge.

Gonna go against the grain here but I think Ward is one of the
better SG2 officials. Rarely gets a big decision wrong. Yes his
overall performance can be haphazard but I’d rather see him on a
game than some

Not a fan of Ward. Been around for donkeys years and I’d
describe him as a less-than-steady Championship official. That
said, he got this red spot on.
In terms of the gk kits, really is no excuse. The other options
for both goalkeepers would have been fined and not clashed with
any outfield players. In fact, I think the Boro keeper was
actually wearing their away kit for no reason

I’m fully agreeing with you. I rate Gavin Ward as a referee.
Yes, he does have a unique style to his refereeing but I really
like his style. I think he is a strong referee who backs himself
when it comes to big decisions. I personally would like to see
him have a trial game in the premier League.
Just my opinion!

Didnt know a team could field two goalkeepers at the same time
😂
Shorts markings, shirt sponsors names and boot colours are the
main factors for telling them apart, not a good advert. Maybe
the referee should have instructed the attacking keeper to take
his shirt off, then caution him accly😂
