A MADLEY - Newcastle v Brentford

Been waiting a few hours for the forum glitches to be looked at
to post this thread! Well done to the admin team who seem to
have sorted out the cloud fare issues! Bloody thing!
Anyhow, onto Madley ( in yellow 💪👍) and it was a
busy match for him and Brooks, with two penalties needing VAR to
come in.
The handball by Murphy, am I missing something but isn’t a
handball DOGSO a red card offence?
The ball was clearly going into the net and Murphy’s arm stopped
it from doing so?
Also, the penalty given away by the Brentford player tripping
the Newcastle attacker could also have been a red as he clearly
tripped up the attacker and felled him before he could probably
score. He was miles away from getting to the ball and I would be
very sceptical to call it an attempt to play.

I believe for it to be given as a red card, the handball has to
be classed as “deliberate”. Take the incident from Crystal
Palace v Chelsea a couple of weeks ago. In that game, the ball
was going into the goal, a “non-deliberate” handball offence was
given so a yellow card was issued that day.
Happy to be corrected of course but I’m pretty sure that’s the
ruling if the ball is going into the goal.

It's a non-deliberate handball offence DOGSO so only a yellow.
But even classing it as a non-deliberate handball offence is
extremely harsh (I would go as far as to say completely wrong)
because his arm was not making his body unnaturally bigger and
was entirely justifiable for his movement in that specific
situation. So I don't think it shouldn't have even been given as
a penalty.
But I'm in danger of waking up the people from the recent
Crystal Palace game (where the decision to award a penalty has
now been confirmed as an error), who've misinterpreted the new
DOGSO handball sanctions law to mean any hand/arm stopping a
goal has to be a penalty.

Again a pretty indifferent performance from Madley. Brentford
penalty is extremely harsh, Murphy has his hands by his side. He
also missed a clear penalty 2 mins in for foul by trippier which
would have been a red card too. Newcastle pen difficult to spot
in real time but should it not be a red card? Didn’t Brentford
get away with something similar in a game earlier in the season?

Only caught the highlights on MoTD but one thing that struck me
was, during a counter attack, Madley seemed to struggle to keep
pace. I wonder if his fitness issues continue to plague him?

I don't understand why the Trippier hold was not a penalty!
Never once looked to play the ball, held opponent for some time.
The only mitigating factor was the attacker threw himself
forwards after contact but only as he knew if he stayed on his
feet he would have no chance of a penalty!! I thought it was
worthy of a review at least.

Watching RefWatch, a comparison was made between the penalty
given here for handball and the penalty awarded in the Palace v
Chelsea game. Both were similar and JB praised the consistency
and said it was a penalty. It was repeated again, even if you
hand is by your side in a natural position, you are not
deliberately making your profile bigger, and the distance
between the shooter and the defender is small, if the ball would
otherwise have gone in it is accidental handball, the defender
is cautioned and a penalty awarded (assuming the accidental
handball occurred in the penalty area).
This is contrary to what many believe to be the case and in
truth I cannot find the law or guidance which confirms this but
the term accidental handball when linked to a yellow card is
contradictory.

He only managed to run 12kms because he thought that bmb was
chasing him for wearing yellow Personally, I'd have let her
catch me.
