19 seconds from the ball going out of play to the goal being
scored - don't think you can really call that "ages".
I hope that the VAR team had a more conclusive angle available
to them though, because from the TV angle alone it's just
guesswork.

According to the BBC article it’s the furthest a VAR has ever
gone back to disallow a goal in the premier league

Mark Chapman was asked exactly that question on Five Live. He
answered "less than 19 seconds" - so I guess he (and us) don't
know!!
Whilst it was a long time, it was a counter attack and Brentford
were out of formation as a result. Had the Villa defenders
passed the ball across the back several times (as is often the
case with some teams) then you could argue that - regardless of
time elapsed - it had no bearing on the "goal". This was not
the case on Sunday.

Agree my only gripe was if the var had a better angle than that
shown on tv because that was not conclusive. watching ref watch
on sky yday the angle shown clearly you see the ball out of play
so no qualms at all with the goal being disallowed. It would
have helped if the pgmol had released that clip to the tv
companies with their ‘x’ explanation during the game it would
have sold better.

That’s what the Match Centre account should be in my opinion - I
was quite hopeful that would promote transparency but actually
it’s more like a videprinter, reporting VAR interventions than
providing clarity.
I’m sure they have the finances to appoint someone to show clips
or images of the key footage used to make the decision and share
on social media
