Dale Johnson sits on the fence but he presents 2 different
opposing views. In Europe Dalot would get a red card and Taylor
would be expected to give it. The challenge is high, on the knee
and with some force. However looking at it in slow motion
doesn't help and you should look at it in full speed.
Johnson points out that most pundits, ex footballers, feel it
was a red card. However, PGMOL would be happy with the yellow
card given noting in the article that the Premier League want a
fast physical game which makes it so popular. IMHO, money
earner. Johnson also comments that what was said by Taylor would
influence the TMO. If he said something like "I have seen it,
catches his knee but is not excessive force", where does that
leave the TMO?
Then he compares it with a challenge last season in Chelsea's
game against Tottenham last April feeling it was worthy of
comparison. Sarr had committed a foul on Caicedo, making clear
contact with his studs around the knee of the Chelsea
midfielder. Pawson the referee, Gillett VAR. Webb later said on
his programme that he was happy with yellow. Red on field,
Gillett as VAR persuaded Pawson it wasn't red.
Pawson was VAR on Saturday and no doubt recalled the Chelsea
incident!

Hence the problem lies with the pgmol hierarchy, going in a
different direction to world football and not protecting
players. I guess Webb thinks his yellow for De Jong in the world
cup final was correct, well i suppose it was as he was the final
arbiter.

"The ball is not there" because Dalot clearly plays the ball
first - look at the direction the ball went in (off towards the
touchline). He also didn't go in with any force. Take a look at
the replay and you'll see that his starting position was less
than 10 yards away and he came to a halt before he challenged
for the ball which was in a 50:50 situation as Doku had
miscontrolled it.

Here's some questions.
How many players have been sent off when they have no chance of
heading the ball and head the other player's head?
Why wasn't Areola sent off at West Ham against Nottingham Forest
a couple of weeks ago when he punched Gibbs-White (giving away a
penalty)?
Why was there no outcry at Burnley the other week (or VAR
review) when Walker stamped on Dorgu?

Isn't that the problem though, no one knows what the game
expects or wants. Generally speaking it is all self serving and
what most clubs and fans will want is what benefits their own
club in any given scenario, they have no interest in what is
best for the game.
