Simon Hooper - Chelsea v Arsenal (EFL Cup)

Could be a good test for Hooper tonight given how tough it was
for Taylor back in November. Be interested to see how he goes
about it.
Positive marks from me for purple 😁

Disagree on his shirt choice. I’m not colour deficient but at
times it blends in with the Arsenal shirts. Yellow would have
been better imho

Love that from Hooper. Cautioning Estevao for waving the
imaginary card.

Good spot by Hooper to see Estevao wave the imaginary card so a
standard caution for dissent. Once again, good that it’s
punished appropriately.
And as I say that another YC for Cucurella which looks a correct
decision.
Not been as difficult as I thought it would be but Hooper is
doing well regardless.

I think he has been fantastic. I really rate Simon as a referee.
Just so clam but in full control. The players have trust in his
refereeing style.

solid first half performance from SH [emoji106] and interesting

out of the technical area [emoji3]

Gyökeres offside for the goal and - going on last night -
interfering with play?! I don’t agree with it but the lack of
consistency with VAR is absolutely shocking.

According to Dale Johnson the VARs have been told to stop
“forensically analysing” certain situations. Whether this goal
would have been ruled out who knows, but it’s definitely the
right outcome. The defender is facing the wrong way for starters

And rightly so. I saw an excellent comment yesterday that said
‘football isn’t a science and we shouldn’t be forensically
analysing incidents’ which I think was spot on. It should be all
about the clear and obvious and yesterday was not that. So I’m
glad that today’s goal stood.
