Accidental, no. Instinctive as opposed to calculated, maybe.

Agree. It was more like someone falling who grabbed anything to
hand to stabilise themselves. It does not diminish in any way
that it was a sending off offence and it was a reckless act that
endangered the safety of an opponent. It could be argued that
it was SFP for those reasons and less VC as it was not a
deliberate violent act.

Which is it? Reckless (which is a yellow card in law) or
endangering safety of an opponent (which is a red card)

But remember he was sent to the screen by a one of the 3 senior
referees in England, Referee Kavanagh, so in your 2nd game
you’re not going to say na Kav not for me. And there is a
presedance now where by if someone yanks someone hair it’s a red
card.
24 hours after this game I’m still buzzing for Kirk, his layed
down a marker now, one where by he could elevate himself on and
upwards, he just must come back for his 3rd game in the PL and
maintain that consistency!

Finally caught the highlights and of the "contentious"
decisions, I think Tom Kirk got them all spot on. Why Keane
feels the need to pull someone's hair is beyond me, and he can
have no complaints whatsoever.
A deserved YC to Moyes for his reaction, and then a hilarious
second yellow for Grealish for applauding when Tom had given the
foul his way. A bizarre collective head loss from Everton, and
one I think Tom can really be proud of for the way he dealt with
that.

Glad to see the wrongful dismissal claim hasn't been upheld, I'd
have been concerned had it been overturned. Though I must admit
I had half-expected to see the suspension reduced.

Moyes doesn't agree nor with the second yellow! Typical and I
guess under pressure from the players. I think one concern is
the inconsistency bit when a certain Spurs player "stamped" on
an opponent just above the ankle. No red card there. However, in
this instance the decision is correct.

Here is a comment I have seen from Moyes:
“I’m more embarrassed for whoever was on VAR. This was a young
referee only doing his 3rd or 4th game and VAR gave him a
terrible decision. VAR didn’t need to get involved at all”
Presumably still annoyed that Keane got sent off , but it seems
nice that he is recognising that Kirk is only new and young.
Maybe he should be embarassed for the fans who are sending
ridiculous abuse to Kirk instead.

How come Moyes knows who was on the panel, but doesn't know who
was on VAR?
Load of nonsense.
It would be nice if the journalists in press conferences
challenged managers more when they come out with this sort of
thing.

Moyes shouldn't have mentioned Kirk's inexperience. He should
have confined himself to the merits of the law, the decision
making and recognise who the VAR was. A very good FIFA referee.
Sadly, Kirkby has received a lot of stick including I understand
the Mayor of Greater Manchester. None of the latter's business.
Leaders in other professions are expected to exercise diplomacy
and keep views to themselves unless relevant to their job. Worse
still, the referee has no way of responding.
