Thomas Bramall - Man City v Brighton

Very loud chants of ‘You're not fit to referee’. I’d like to see
the 57000 Man City fans in the ground pick up a whistle and give
it a go.
It wasn’t a great decision, the non-award of a penalty by
Bramall. I can see why he was hesitant though. When I saw the
replay in full speed, I was unconvinced the contact sent Doku to
ground but slowing it down, there’s clear knee on knee contact
so a good overturn by Chilowicz.
Not sure what was going on when Bramall at the screen though.
I’m assuming Harrington told him to book Guardiola and Gross. It
was all behind Bramall so he couldn’t really see it.
Apart from that decision I think he’s been good.

In reality it was a clear penalty and should have been seen in
real time

Yeah I don't really subscribe to it being a good decision if a
VAR intervention is required. The bar is for a clear and obvious
error, therefore it was a clear and obvious error to not award
the penalty in real time - which I think is a very fair
assessment of the decision.
I'd be expecting every SG referee to see and award the penalty
in real time. Other that that I thought he was good. Dealt with
the Donnarumma flashpoint with the Brighton player well,
cautioning both.

Unlike Mr Kirk who was excellent, just having seen the
highlights of Referee Bramall that was a hugely poor decision
not to award the pen in real time. An SG1 referee should be
calling that, not waiting and seeing. When Webb was head of MLS
refs they were r couraged to make real time calls, brave calls.
Maybe webb needs to put people annual retainer on getting
decisions correct and if VAR bail you out you start losing a %
of your yearly bonus !! Make it KMI dependant, your start date o
see the correct calls being made live.
Bramall now similar to Barrott going through one of those ruts
at present and could do with a Kirk like game, where he sinks
his teeth into it

My own thoughts are that if Mr Oliver had referreed the Chelsea
game as well as Mr Bramall did this game he would have deserved
the accolades he got on here.
Mr Bramall did miss the penalty first time round but in fairness
to him Doku did seem to fall in a manner that could have led one
to think that the contact was not as great as it seemed.
Clearly a foul when seen in replay and from another angle. He
also missed a nasty looking lunge which should have been a
yellow in my eyes. Other than that I thought he was OK.

I Thought Mr Bramall had a great game , not over officious and
managed the game well .
In regards to the penalty, the correct decision was reached
through VAR , this is exactly what it was brought in for , imo.
Doku went down rather theatrically , looking at this in real
time , if this was given straight away would have looked bad if
VAR decision was no penalty.
I don’t like VAR but ,this is why we brought it in .
