A poor decision from James Bell there.

And the referee in the perfect position to see; it makes one
wonder what goes through a referee's mind to make such a
spectacularly bad decision. No doubt James Bell will have the
opportunity to explain it to an Observer.

One hopes it’s a learning curve for him too, particularly as he
is appearing as a VAR in some games, even though this is an EFL
       contest.
I do often contemplate whether acting as a VAR affects your on
       field performance.
In no way am I claiming that officials who act as both VAR and
on field officials are becoming less observant or lackadaisical
on the field, but I do wonder whether the flip flopping between
roles is a factor, particularly for EFL SG2 who do both.

Blimey. Read about it and wondered if folk were over reacting
but just seen it now. Red every day of the week and Bell was in
a good position so can’t claim his view was blocked.

No observer at Championship level, WB. I am convinced the
presence of observers at PL and Championship level ensured a
       higher standard than their removal.

An outrageous kick out, followed up with an absolutely shocking
decision from referee Bell, to go yellow is absolutely shocking
       decision.
I fully expect Kevin Friend will hold a training session on SFP
for James Bell, along with 2 weeks off too !! It was an
absolutely shocking decision, but one I kind of expect from this
new generation of official, lacking any leadership / and very
very weak, they try to please players at every opportunity.

How do amateur referees on a Sunday morning say handle a
situation like that when it is normalised. I do not understand
why red wasn't issued but there is growing evidence that top
referees are under instructions to keep it at 11 v11 whatever
       the situation.
Imagine a school game should that happen, a player kicking
another? Disrespectful in an era where we are paranoid about
respect, most not knowing what it is.
