Port Vale v Blackpool - Ed Duckworth
A very interesting game, Blackpool went one up and in complete
control of the game. However, just before half time Blackpool
had a player sent off. For me it was not a red card. At most a
yellow but Port Vale players got around Mr Duckworth and the
Port Vale player rolled around on the floor.
Second half Port Vale came out and battered Blackpool with the
man advantage. I have to say two of the goals were very
contentious; one for me a clear push and the other a clear foul
in the corner before the cross came in.
I’m not sure how to sum up Mr Duckworth’s performance. I would
say on the whole one big decision that in my opinion was
incorrect had a massive impact on the rest of the game. If I
were a Port Vale fan I’d be over joyed but; if I were a
Blackpool fan very frustrated with the referee.
Seen Mr Duckworth has had some Championship appointments; after
today’s showing I’m not sure he is at that level.

We were chuckling at Crewe Alex at half time when we heard
managerless Port Vale were losing 0-1, but imagine my surprise
when I got home to find PV had stuck five past Blackpool. I
still think Crewe will be playing the derby game v Port Vale
next season, but in which League, L1 or L2?

Colchester United FC (First Team) v Milton Keynes Dons FC (First
Team)
Football League 2
Referee: Parkinson, Stephen
Assistant Referee: Bennett, Andy
Assistant Referee: Murphy, Ross
Fourth Official: Tranter, Adrian
A pretty good showing from Stephen Parkinson and team yesterday,
a fairly entertaining game without much incident or controversy.
There wasn’t much that really stood out to me, he just went
mostly under the radar. He was accurate with his fouls, with
exception of 2 or 3 defensive free kicks that the defenders
bought. All 3 yellows produced were correct and no other yellow
card incidents I can remember not awarded. There was just 1
strange decision where he stopped the game needlessly after 2 or
3 fair tackles had gone in, rather than allow Colchester a
promising attack. I assume he thought an MK player on the floor
had a head injury but I don’t believe it was a knock to the head
and he didn’t require any treatment.
As for the very late penalty, it’s not a stonewall penalty but
was a firm grasp of the attacker, very similar to the penalty we
were given at Gillingham earlier this week. There was a good 5
seconds before he gave the penalty, i’m not sure if he was
replaying it in his mind or whether AR1 had a good view. To be
honest, I wouldn’t have complained too much if it wasn’t given
but likewise, I don’t think MK can complain about the decision
either.

I’ve seen Stephen Parkinson twice on the tv and thought he was
very good both times. For what it’s worth I think it’s a clear
penalty. Hope to see him appointed to one of our games soon

That rogue Port Vale score sent my accumulator into the trash
can! Had it as a draw!
