Crazy game at Bradford today. First time we’ve seen a team
reduced to nine men here since 2020, when Ryan Lowe was also the
opposition manager!
I didn’t think Seb Stockbridge’s performance was particularly
great, but it was no lower than his usual standards. Top marks
for the second red card, straight red for SFP. The first was for
a soft second booking, but the Wigan no. 6 should’ve walked in
the first half when he was only cautioned, so he can have few
complaints.
Both sides had a shout for a penalty, Wigan’s rightly waved away
as both players were holding each other. I thought our shout was
very strong as Aimson had his arms ridiculously high in the air.
Would have to see it again though.
I see there was a penalty each way in Marsden’s game. I look
forward to the highlights…

I watched Bristol Rovers Vs Bromley on Sky Sports. I thought
Jacob Miles was excellent and got the big decision correct in
the game: the second yellow card for a Bristol Rovers player. I
like his no nonsense style of refereeing.
Jacob Miles has refereed 21 games with 87 yellows and 8 reds.

Difficult to see from the brief highlights if the penalties were
warranted. However, a lot of chuntering going on from reports
suggesting the last minute pen was very soft.

Having now seen the incidents I would say both penalties were
soft, but certainly not howlers and I can see why he gave them.
It’s not his fault he was appointed to this game

Anyone seen Dale Baines in action? I wasn’t at the Rovers v
Fleetwood game yesterday and will try to catch fuller highlights
later, but seemed to have made a negative impact on home fans in
a game ending in a home win.

I watched some of it, he was OK. He was quite card happy - 7
yellow cards plus 2 to the managers, and I don't think it needed
to be - a couple of the cards I saw could have been managed.
The card count was 5 to Tranmere, 2 to Fleetwood (6-3 including
managers), which may have caused Tranmere fans to not be too
thrilled with his performance.

Mansfield Town F.C. (First Team) v Bradford City FC (First Team)
Football League 1
Referee: Joyce, Ross
Assistant Referee: Larkin, Joseph
Assistant Referee: McKittrick, Harley
Fourth Official: Farmer, Aaron
Less said the better about our performance today. We didn’t
deserve anything from the game but at 2-0 Akins saves an on
target shot like a keeper, clear penalty missed by the usually
reliable Ross Joyce. We had a late goal ruled offside, very
tight but I think the AR got that one right. Everything else was
good just a shame he didn’t give the penalty

Dale Baines again, this time Crewe v Cheltenham. I was impressed
with his performance. Unlike the other day at Tranmere, he
resorted to yellow cards only twice and both were clear-cut. He
was firm and didn't fall for any play acting and falling over
from players of either side. But he also allowed the players to
get on with the game, intervening only when really necessary,
and the result was a clean and quite entertaining game to watch.
Well done Dale, based on this afternoon's performance, I think
you look a good prospect.

Port Vale v Blackpool - Ed Duckworth
A very interesting game, Blackpool went one up and in complete
control of the game. However, just before half time Blackpool
had a player sent off. For me it was not a red card. At most a
yellow but Port Vale players got around Mr Duckworth and the
Port Vale player rolled around on the floor.
Second half Port Vale came out and battered Blackpool with the
man advantage. I have to say two of the goals were very
contentious; one for me a clear push and the other a clear foul
in the corner before the cross came in.
I’m not sure how to sum up Mr Duckworth’s performance. I would
say on the whole one big decision that in my opinion was
incorrect had a massive impact on the rest of the game. If I
were a Port Vale fan I’d be over joyed but; if I were a
Blackpool fan very frustrated with the referee.
Seen Mr Duckworth has had some Championship appointments; after
today’s showing I’m not sure he is at that level.

Fully agree. A very easy game to referee, hardly anything
happened besides 5 goals. Surprised only 1 added min first half
with 4 goals, but hey ho. Cheltenham looked really poor -
especially their goalkeeper!
