       On field discipline
   DIR By: keith h

Every season we read there will be a clampdown on general
discipline on the field from mass protests at every decision
       that goes against a team.
Don't know if it's me but as far as I am concerned every season
       it gets worse, not better

       I agree with you.
The dissent and surrounding of referees is only getting worse. I
think they need to bring in the sin bin rule like in grassroots.
I have used it a few times this season as a level 5 referee. It
works so well. A shame that players want to miss 10 minutes and
       have a £12 fine.

It would work until one of the big names was sent off to the sin
bin (probably within about 5 mins of it being introduced...) and
all hell would break loose - can you imagine the backlash!

If our referees took the approach Alejandro Quintero did with
Real Madrid the other week, I don't reckon many teams would get
to the end with 11 men, but they may get the message that way.
We did see some attempts at quelling protests with cards this
weekend, but more definitely needs to be done.

It would work until there’s a game that ends up 8 vs 9 because
       of continual dissent.
And then because referees have virtually no respect in the
footballing world, we’d get accused of ruining the game.

This! The refs are never going to win in any situation.

It would be good if 'discipline' could be extended to the
behaviour of substitutes who all run onto the field of play to
give their goalscorer a kiss and cuddle when they run towards
the corner flag followed by most of the team then take forever
to return to their own half for the restart, find it a bit
pathetic but then again it's part of the showbiz called
Professional football I suppose, bah humbug ::)

Should just let the other team kick off without waiting for the
celebrations to end. That will focus minds!!

The lack of card given for subs running on the field or goal
scorers running off the field wnd jumping into the crowd is
really bad now, just seems the new crop of match official fails
to identify this !!! Especially subs, subs defo should be
receiving cards for entering the field of play.

Why? That isn't what the law was intended for, it was brought
in to stop subs, or players off the pitch for any reason, from
stepping onto the pitch to influence play. Play can't be
influenced when it is stopped following a goal, so I am
personally struggling to see the issue.
Can you imagine if a referee cautioned three or four subs for a
goal celebration? Fans and media would be all over it accusing
them of having no common sense and being the anti-fun police.
