I see the 2 match ban has been imposed but that Leeds requested
consideration of some form of leniency in view of the
circumstances and the magnanimous gesture from their manager in
letting Villa equalise. Whilst the 2nd is undeniable and I
applaud them fully for what they did it’s a bit of a nerve
asking for special consideration for Bamford. Regardless of what
happened he deliberately conned the ref and that is cheating.
Full stop.

Michael Oliver benefitted from the Ivory Towers learning their
mistakes with how they wrongly pushed Stuart Attwell too far too
soon. As such he has developed into the excellent referee that
he is today and I believe we've not seen his best yet because he
is still developing. When Stuart Attwell was pushed too far too
soon he had shown wonderful ability and talent as a youngster,
in that respect it was understandable to a degree that he was
being hailed as the next best thing because of the promise he
was showing. The powers that be completely destroyed that in
him, imo. I have wondered before now what sort of a referee he
would have developed into had he been allowed to develop with
the same support and time that Michael Oliver has had. Stuart
didn't get the right support, he got put on a pedestal and left
there to flounder and we all know how very wrong it went for him
because of that. Amazing mental strength on his part to come
back from that and to develop into the more often than not
decent young ref he is today. Sadly he will never reach the full
potential that he showed so much promise for early on, I think
the mental scars probably run too deep. There is always going
to be that fear at the back of his mind somewhere that it will
all go spectacularly wrong again it's human nature. Maybe he is
trying so hard to stay in the background and not be noticed,
because he gets noticed for any errors big or small or even just
perceived errors more than his colleagues, that he ends up
projecting himself as being very timid?
