I’m afraid I don’t agree whole heartedly with the people saying
that the referee could “do nothing about it”... when everyone
basically stops and Tyler Roberts plays that through ball he
should use a bit of common sense and stop play for the injured
player to receive treatment to save the ensuing carnage that
       follows by doing nothing.
This is another case of a referee applying law and not using the
common sense he would be applauded for using.
I do agree that the players take a big part of the blame for
stopping and trying to force his hand but sometimes as a referee
you’ve got to have more common sense. Surely he knew that
reaction would occur once he let it go on?!

There have been a few examples they have used this for punishing
penalty area simulation. Have they banned anyone for red card
       incidents yet ?
The FA punishment will probably be missing a trip to Portman
Road next week for a match that several will rested for.

Why should Leeds get penalised for a Villa player being down
injured. Attwell didn't think he was sufficiently injured so the
game should have continued and both teams knew this. Players are
always told to play to the whistle. What I will add, which
no-one has mentioned is that it should have been a free kick IMO
for Villa for the initial foul on Kodja which started off this
       whole incident.
Not sure who the assistant was but he will find himself in hot
water with the PGMO over that one, and Bamford should be banned
       for his disgraceful antics.

I do agree it looks a foul initially... and giving that simple
foul avoids any of the ensuing mess!
As I said the players must take a large portion of the blame for
stopping. However, the point I was making was the referees lack
of awareness and common sense to what would happen by allowing
       it to continue

Attwell's only mistake was not giving a free-kick to Villa in
       the first place.
From then on he was blameless.

From the replays I saw, I'm not convinced that it necessarily
       was a free-kick.

I agree Attwell wasn't to blame over the dismissal, having been
badly let down by his assistant who, to compound his
incompetence, had also failed to spot the offside in the lead up
to the goal. However, the whole incident wouldn't have
happened at all had the referee penalised the foul on Kodjia,
despite appearing to have a clear view of it.
Neither did he really look as though he was on top of the whole
somewhat unusual incident which followed and although Stuart
Attwell has improved somewhat since his previous demotion, I
still don't see him ever becoming one of our leading officials
or indeed how he is worthy of a FIFA badge.

I couldn't care less about the goal debacle, that's one people
will debate for along time to come regardless of the referee, I
don't see it had much to do with him to be honest. Unlike the
rest of the game as a whole. I can honestly say Attwell was one
of the worst referees I've ever seen at Leeds. He never once had
control of the game and was conned constantly by Villa and then
Bamford. His decision making throughout the game led to a lot of
frustration and anger from both players and fans alike.
Personally I would rather never see the guy at Elland Road
       again, he was absolutely shocking.

If there is any justice, the Villa player will have his RC
revoked and Bamford gets 4 matches (do he misses the semi-final
and play-off final). We need to punish the (Edited) more than
what the original offence would get. >:(

It's the second paragraph here that is spot on for me.
Regardless of blame for the incident, okayer behaviour, etc. He
didn't look like he had any authority whatsoever in dealing with
what ensued. I realise these incidents are difficult but you
frequently see referees dealing with these things in a much more
authoritative manner having a clear idea of what they are going
to do. Attwell looked like he was praying for it to stop rather
than being willing to step in and defuse it.
