Mr Attwell Leeds v Villa

Looks like the vastly overrated lad from Warwickshire lost the
plot in a hugely controversial game. I await the highlights with
interest.

Lost the plot! ??? ???
You are basing this on what (if you didnt see the game) :o :o :o
:o
The major incident in the game had nothing to do with him (the 2
goals debacle), and the dismissal was solely down to the
assistant being [edited out] Bamford, who incidentally should be
banned [edited out].
I thought he did well overall in the game in what was a very
feisty game.

Is this a situation where Bamford by apparently feigning contact
and getting an opponent sent off will cop a ban himself?

So you’re bashing the referee based on what exactly???
The incident had nothing to do with Attwell and everything to do
with Leeds & Villa.

Totally agree, what else could he have done! The dismissal will
of course be overturned, not sure what the assistant saw and
Bamford, the idiot, will face charges and rightly so

Just looked at it again to confirm my initial view. Stuart
Attwell didn't see it and could not be expected to from his
position. The red card is on the advice of his assistant who not
only bought the Bamford exhibition but paid the VAT on it as
well

I wouldn’t say Attwell Is Overrated, I Think Everybody Rightly
sees That he Is Not One Of The Very Top Officials. I Geuss His
Past Reputation Still Sticks For Some, Despite The Fact He Has
Made Some Improvement and that this incident is Not his fault.

I don't think that Attwell could have done anything different -
I remember there being a directive about 10 years ago that
players should stop putting the ball out of play and the game
should just continue, with the referee stopping it if deeming it
necessary. The approach was never really followed but I think it
would be better if it was.
I'm not sure that Leeds did too much wrong - it was Villa's
fault for stopping!
The assistant also seemed to switch off because it looked as if
the scorer was actually offside. The assistant then made an
error with the red card although more blame should probably be
attributed to Bamford for his actions - if players are suspended
for obtaining penalties in such a manner then the same should
certainly apply to an opponent being sent off.

Agree with the comments, not really sure what Attwell could have
done differently and he has done well to eventually get it all
defused and keep control of the remainder of the game.
AR has to get the blame for the incorrect red card, as well as
of course Bamford for his shameful actions. If there is any
justice El Ghazi will have his red overturned and will be able
to take part in the play offs whereas Bamford should be sitting
at least part of them out.

This was the BBC article when the new FA initiative was
introduced in 2017 -
HTML https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39962886
'The FA defines the new offence for which players will be
punished as "successful deception of a match official".
Only incidents that result in a player winning a penalty or lead
to an opponent being sent off - through either a direct red card
or two yellow cards - will be punished.
The FA says it will act "where there is clear and overwhelming
evidence to suggest a match official has been deceived by an act
of simulation, and as a direct result, the offending player's
team has been awarded a penalty and/or an opposing player has
been dismissed"'
Personally I would say that this ought to apply in this
scenario.
