Not sure how thats only a yellow card, in behind and the last
defender brings him down with only the keeper closer to the goal

I could be heavily disagreed with on this, but is it just me or
does it seem like Barrott doesn’t particularly like giving red
cards…for clear red card incidents?
Newcastle vs Fulham - Clear VC, VAR gave RC
Liverpool vs Everton - Tarkowski challenge, YC + VAR error
And now tonight.
Don’t get me wrong, wonderful official though.

I think that’s a bit unfair. He sent off a Palace player last
year which everybody said was harsh, so it’s not as if he’s
afraid to give them. I’d also say the Fulham one was easy to
misjudge from his position (VAR used a 90 degree angle he didn’t
have)
Imo tonight’s can be judged as not DOGSO, as there’s a defender
in line and the attacker is going away from goal. I’m not sure
VAR would have upgraded this one, could have gone either way

I think this post is a tad unfair myself. We could do this for
any official in the premier league. Everyone has had to go to
the screen and change their decision so to single a referee out
for not giving these decision is not entirely fair.
What I will say from a refereeing perspective though is that you
have mentioned ‘clear red card incidents’. Barrott can only
issue what he sees as the appropriate sanction from his
positioning and his view of the incident. As we know, slow
motion replays are no benefit to the referee unless VAR comes
in. Salisbury helped him out in the Newcastle v Fulham game but
Tierney really threw him under the bus for not recommending a
review for the Tarkowski challenge.

What do you mean he was going away from goal? He had control of
the ball and his next touch would have been in the penalty area
with an OGSO.
How about penalties aren't awarded when a player is fouled but
is heading away from goal?

If nobody touches the ball after the foul it would have went out
between the 6 and 18 yard box it’s hardly away from goal, I’m
very interested in which one of the defenders you think is in
line as when the foul is committed there’s a defender a yard or
2 behind it then the next closest one is nowhere near

His touch takes him wider from where he was fouled, that’s what
I meant by away from goal, not literally going towards his own
half. Ake is about half a yard behind. Is it an OBVIOUS goal
scoring opportunity? I’m not so sure it is

Really poor from Referee Barrott ! I agree with the poster above
he does seem to not be able to call out clear red card offences.
Surely by the rage Brentford players were showing he knew he
messed up !

Because clearly players have never raged about a correct
decision before [emoji23]
I think it's DOGSO, but I do think the direction of his first
touch adds an element of doubt to it.
