Well, Natalie Aspinall as a 4th is something I didn’t expect to
see, although I remember seeing Mark Scholes as a 4th at some
point in the last few seasons.

Guessing someone selected the wrong one on MOAS, they've now
changed it.

I would totally agree with the comments made regards the
performance of Michael Barlow last night he had three major KMI
and for two he got completely wrong, i believe it his first
season on the EFL , many more performances like that and it will
be a short career, hopefully there was a referee observer at the
game. The Crewe no29 was sent off for violent conduct and
rightly so with the Bristol no6 cautioned.
Has stated previously the Bristol no 6 then made a reckless
challenge which should have been a second caution, which would
have resulted in him being sent off, he only had a word with
him, he then a few minutes later pulled the Crewe attacker back
by his shirt in the penalty area which he waved play on he did
have a clear view of it, but bottled the decision. The Bristol
goalkeeper caught the ball clearly outside the penalty area for
which the assistant flagged for straight away, he stopped play
and went over to speak to him which resulted in Crewe being
awarded a direct free-kick, and the goalkeeper cautioned There
were times when Bristol were not happy, when they should have
decisions, but after the major incidents he appeared to lose
some control of the game for a period of time, i hate to think
what would have happened if the game had turned nasty due to his
performance.

Colchester United FC (First Team) v Newport County AFC (First
Team)
Football League 2
Referee: Wager, Harry
Assistant Referee: Read, Greg
Assistant Referee: Wilson, Marc
Fourth Official: Norton, Matthew
A good debut for Harry Wager in the EFL today, he can be happy
with how his maiden game went, with both the game not proving
too much of a challenge but also allowing him to do everything
he needed and oversee the game in a tidy fashion.
I was immediately happy to see him give a clear yellow in the
opening 90 seconds to Smith for tripping up Bishop as he was
advancing quickly towards goal - a straight forward decision but
showing a clear mind. I thought the bookings for Evans and
Iandolo were a little on the harsh side, but they were very
similar and he treated them equally so no complaints on his
decisions. He was immediately on top of the 8 second rule and
didn’t mess about with “slow counting”.
Other than that, a short report for Harry, with little else to
comment on and certainly no errors I can remember. The only
errors that were made were AR2 missing a couple of balls that
had gone out of play but weren’t flagged, but thankfully of no
consequence.
I can’t end the report without mentioning Sammy Braybrooke’s
goal for Newport - I highly recommend seeking it out. The best
goal i’ve ever seen live and I can’t remember a better halfway
line goal, hitting the net flush after clipping the bottom of
the bar. I’m glad the Newport fans got to see that on an
otherwise terrible display by the EFL’s bottom club. My
Colchester side didn’t have to try very hard to score 4 (albeit
well worked) goals.

You’ve clearly never seen Shaun Smith from the half way line
then!! 😉

A very impressive finish from the Leicester loanee. Very similar
to one his Leicester teammates did last weekend albeit a bit
further out!

I’m not sure where my post has gone… I doubt anyone would have
removed it.
Anyway, my thoughts are exactly the same as this post

for half time a minute early!

Another poor performance from Paul Marsden to remember at
Gateshead Sunday afternoon, missed a DOGSO in the first half and
issued a yellow for it seen highlights back and for me it’s
clearly a DOGSO player knocked off the ball, another incident
which I was pleased he got was a midfield player went into a
challenge with high boot going for the ball not reckless not
force but yellow card was suitable in real time and then same
player dived in second half the Eastleigh player was nowhere
near him and it was right in front of The ref so it was
simulation so that’s a yellow card which gave the Gateshead
player his second and then a red card, Paul seem to be card
happy in this game but maybe he will look back at learn from
them but not hopefully he’s never had a great game at Gateshead
int stadium when refereeing.
Happy Christmas to everyone, we’ve got the might Carlisle United
to Visit on Boxing Day

A 4 min interview from Crewe manager Lee Bell, talking about his
discussion with head of EFL refereeing Mike Jones after the
performance of Mr Barlow on Friday night. It’s well worth a
listen.

I note that Thibaut didn’t appear for Crewe at the Walsall
Boxing Day match, so appeal against the red card either
unsuccessful or hasn’t taken place yet?
I am aware of two incidents in Rovers games last season where it
was admitted the wrong decisions were made, although dont know
if it was specifically Mike Jones they were discussed with
