Isthmian League - Play Offs
Fri 3rd May 2019
Horsham (First Team) v Ashford United (First Team)
Isthmian League - Play Offs
Referee: Mannix, Joel
Assistant Referee: Batten, Andrew
Assistant Referee: POTTER, Christopher
Fourth Official: Bloxham, Jack
For anyone struggling with the FArcical play off situation at
step 4 promotion, tonight's game is as follows:
If Horsham win they go up.
If Ashford win they can ONLY go up if BOTH Brighouse and
Cinderford win their play-off finals on Saturday and Monday
respectively.
Bearing in mind neither Brighouse nor Cinderford can go up under
any circumstances that particular "double" is probably long
odds.
Well Horsham duly won and go up.
Heybridge Swifts now are in the same position as Ashford were -
they can ONLY go up if BOTH Brighouse and Cinderford win their
play-off finals on Saturday and Monday respectively.
Given that their play off is Sunday they could be out of it by
then.
Horsham's result is bad news for Radcliffe, Yate and Leek whose
hopes rest with an unlikely combination of other outcomes.

Does anyone know how these games were arrived at? Were they
drawn randomly or based on performance? I doubt was the second
as the clubs involved WT and KL gained 84 and *) points
respectively whilst MP and TA were on 78 and 70 respectively
from their seasons.
If they could sort it for promotion to the NLS & NLN why not for
the others?

They were allocated by the authorities who reserved the right to
do so based on geographical or "other" reasons. So in this case
almost certainly geographical.

Cheers aaa
So they could quite easily have done the same throughout then
rather than having meaningless play off games. There's so many
teams in the North/south split zone it's not a major issue to
work out placings!!

What was decided prior to the start of the season was that the
FA Leagues Committee would allocate based on the most suitable
geographical basis once the teams were known.
Had the qualifying teams been, for example, Brightlingsea,
Leiston, Hednesford and Merthyr the cross divisional pairings
would have been different.
While I'm here, let me thank you for all your efforts throughout
the season keeping us informed of all those myriad appointments
!!! Thank you, indeed.
..... and Toprefm yes they could.
