Newcastle v Tottenham - Thomas Bramall (VAR Paul Tierney)

That's actually a really good VAR intervention IMO, wasn't
convinced on first viewing but he has had a sustained hold on
him and after the header is flicked on, stops him from playing
the ball

Whether that incident meets the threshold for VAR review, I’ve
got no idea and I’ll leave that up for debate.
What I would say is that if the ball went nowhere near Burn and
Bentancur then there’s no way an OFR would’ve occurred.

Don’t agree with the intervention tbh.
There would literally be a pen every single game if all those
are given.
Well see if they’ll all be given

Pretty disgraceful intervention from VAR Tierney, shambles.

I’m fairly satisfied with the intervention purely because the
Tottenham player had no focus on the ball (or general play) and
was looking at Burn throughout.

Thought Bramhall was excellent again , the penalty whilst not
wrong was harsh if Bramhall had stuck and said no penalty I
think it would have been supportable it’s a grey area these days
as no one is really sure where the threshold lays

Didn't realise there was a law for awarding penalties for "not
watching the ball".
Absolutely dreadful review as seems to be the general opinion in
most places I have looked.

They’ve just shown what constitutes to a holding offence on sky
and not looking at the ball is part of that.
The problem is that these are given too few and far between. If
similar was given, then I’d have no issue with the award of the
penalty.
Even though it was communicated to clubs that more holding
offences would be penalised, the PGMO haven’t seemed to follow
through words with action which is what will infuriate clubs and
fans.

Even Dan Burn was confused what exactly they were reviewing.
Disgraceful from Tierney in VAR, and from Bramall in not
sticking to his on field guns. What a total and utter shambles
our officials are in.

How Paul Tierney continues to get away with mistake after
mistake week on week is beyond words. A joke of a penalty
decision
