Tim Robinson: Sunderland v Bournemouth

Game of the season so far. Footballing wise has been excellent,
end to end.
Tim Robinson has done very well in a very difficult climate.
He's been as consistent as I think one could be and all yellow
cards were warranted for sure.
Bournemouths discipline is absolutely disgusting. The manager
made a show of himself today, I've never seen 3 coaches from the
same team simultaneously booked in one go before. Also Lewis
Cook absolutely did not lead by example, went around on his high
horse all afternoon and then rightly was sent off for violent
conduct. Great spot by AR2 Mark Scholes without the need to get
VAR involved. With your manager and captain acting like that
(and it spreading to the rest as seen today), Bournemouth won't
be able to challenge further than where they have before.

I said pretty much exactly that to the family I go to games
with. I wasn't there today but we were chatting by text during
the game. There was one particular moment when he shouted at
Semenyo to keep his discipline and followed it immediately by
having an intense looking convo with the 4O and gesturing at the
ref and I remarked and he wonders why we have lost our
discipline. [emoji85] I hate to see it, we've never really been
that team.

"Referee lost control" - the manager's view, not mine. It takes
ages as in years for a club to build up and good reputation and
just a few games to lose it. I suspect that Bournemouth's
manager should look at home first before blaming the referee.

Ok game in tricky conditions.
Scott is very lucky not to have been sent off could have picked
up 3 yellows and the one he did could have been a red.
It was disappointing he didn’t clamp down on time wasting on the
1st half by Bournemouth only to then book Roefs later when it
was time wasting but not as egregious.
The Bournemouth manager complaining about the referee losing
control is funny, it was him and his team that lost control not
Robinson.
Can I complain about him actually adding on the time? Good
weather and it’s the standard 3 minutes added today was horrible
and I think there were 110 minutes in total.

Well as Sunderland's number one supporter let me say bmb was
never far from my thoughts today especially as the Metropolis of
Bournemouth is my second favourite place in the UK having spent
many happy memories as an adult and child since the summer of
love in 1967 when I was eight years old.
I thought [ against what appears to be popular opinion on social
media] that Tim Robinson had a " difficult " game not ability
wise but the conditions it was played in.
I don't really think he got that much wrong but the reason
Bournemouth lost was down too just being worn down by a very
good Sunderland side.
BTW..........involved in a discussion as to has the final word
regarding injury time............I am right saying it is the on
field referee who the cascaded the info to the 4th Official who
then raises the board. Aren't I ?

Can I ask what these three yellows would have been for? I only
listened to the local radio commentary and apart from suggesting
Sunderland were baying for a second yellow every time Scott
dared to get involved in the game, it's not actually clear what
he was doing.
The penalty obviously wasn't a yellow card worthy offence so I
assume you're not referring to that.
The commentary suggested Sunderland players were working quite
hard to get him sent off for an incident that only resulted in a
drop ball so again I assume you're not referring to that either.

I was watching and have to agree. The yellow he got was correct
and no complaints with that one but I don’t recall holding my
breath at any time in anticipation of a 2nd yellow. There was
one incident where he ran into someone and the entire home crowd
were screaming for him to be sent off but it was never a yellow
card incident and like you say nor was the penalty. Stupid,
needless foul absolutely but again not a yellow card any day of
the week.

Opta show he only conceded two fouls in the whole game, which is
presumably the booking and the penalty, so certainly would have
been hard to pick up three yellows. The other incident is
described in the Guardian as:
"Darker arts were at play as Reinildo, well aware Scott had
already been booked, attempted to earn the midfielder a second
yellow card by running across his path and precipitating an
inevitable collision. Robinson, though, was not buying it."
Joecphillips appears to have fallen for his team's dark arts. At
least Robinson didn't on that occasion but it sounded like the
inevitable weight of a baying crowd and some underhand tactics
by the home team did start to affect him as the game wore on.
There's some warranted criticism of Bournemouth's players and
management losing their heads in the opening post, but it
appears that Sunderland were guilty of some disgusting tactics
of their own and unfortunately Robinson is not the strong
referee you need to deal with that.

Ultimately the referee has the final say. However, the 4O will
note down any stoppages and add the up. Then towards the end of
the half will say to the referee, I think we have X amount to
add on. Referee will either agree, disagree (rare) or they may
ask for a quick breakdown on how they got to that number
