I think he was Lincs/Leics based

South Luffenham in Rutland according to Upton's. I'l stand
corrected but I think it is probably him. Timing is correct and
I don't think that Rutland to Aldershot would be deemed too far
in those days. I remember Eric Crickmore of Plymouth turning up
to line a London derby at Selhurst Park and then retiring hurt
at half time. I'm not sure how he got home!

I think he was in the RAF (or other service?) so may have been
posted somewhat nearer to Aldershot at the time.

Although, J Ashworth isn't that unusual a name, so it could
quite easily be someone else.

J. Ashworth - I think he was in the RAF (or other service?) so
may have been posted somewhat nearer to Aldershot at the time.
Jim was born 1944 Rutland, took up the whistle 1967
He was an air traffic controller at RAF Luffenham, Rutland (in
his FL days)
