An Interesting Afternoon: Sat 22/11/25

I've lost the will to live with my team, so thought I'd do a
page on some very interesting moments this afternoon.
Wolves v Crystal Palace (Taylor and Attwell)
Early in the game, Ismila Sarr was fouled, FK given, very clear
foul. However, replays show the offence was on the line, very
clearly on the line, yet Attwell on VAR stuck with on field
call. Very very strange.
A couple of minutes later, Guehi looked very lucky to avoid a
2nd YC for what looked like a promising attack. I imagine Rob
Edwards won't be happy with that.
Bournemouth v West Ham (Bramall)
Bmb must he getting blown away in the wind and rain, as I think
has Bournemouth's defence! However main moment was a pen given
for handball on the ground. Good identification of handball by
Bramall I must say. Potential DOGSO? I only saw it once, however
looked like a clear shot on goal had the offence not occurred.
Liverpool v Forest (Madley and Bell)
Forest's first goal was allowed to stand, very similar to the
one at the Etihad 2 weeks ago, seems to have been allowed as
there was no movement from the defender today, however I think
if you give one you have to give the other, inconsistency a
massive problem again!
Then Forest's 2nd goal was disallowed a minute later for
handball on field by Madley. I don't think it was handball, so I
understand why Forest fans are miffed, however I would
personally support the inconclusiveness and stick with refs
call.
Finally, one that seems to have gone completely under the radar.
Konate seemed to push the Forest LW in.the face when trying to
win.the ball as last defender back, however no foul given. It
was definitely a foul, so poor detection from Madley, and I
think DOGSO as there were no other covering defenders.

Continues at St James Park. A clear foul and penalty for the
late tackle on Phil Foden. What is Craig Pawson looking at?

Adding that one in Newcastle v City, how on earth a penalty
hasn't been give to Foden, I'm genuinely losing the faith in our
officials, some of what I've seen today is baffling.

There's an unwritten rule that they are never given once the
attacker has got their shot away, they are very rarely given.
That isn't just an England thing, it happens at senior levels of
football all over the world.

Another incident I’d like to add to those listed.
I saw a clip earlier from the Burnley v Chelsea game (Bankes and
VAR Jones).
Chelsea keeper Sanchez went to take a goal kick. It is worth
noting the ball was still and inside the 6 yard box. The two
Chelsea defenders move to either side of the 6 yard box. Sanchez
then passes it to Chalobah (I think) who puts his hand on the
ball to stop it. Penalty or not?
Reminded me of the penalty that Aston Villa gave away in the
champions league last season, I believe at Club Brugge.

I really don’t understand… Newcastle vs Man City. A corner to
Man City is taken the ball is in play, then the referee blows up
to call the players who are wrestling with each other for a
chat. He re-starts play with a corner to Man City. He blew when
the ball had been kicked so surely it’s either a free kick or
penalty kick. Or, am I missing something?

That doesnt make sense to me. Anywhere else on the field, if a
player makes a pass then gets clattered 100 milliseconds later,
it's a foul every day of the week.
If in the penalty area, it's not given if he gets a shot away. I
could understand it if the ball has gone out of play before
contact, but in Foden's case, if it's a FK anywhere else on the
pitch, then it's still a foul, and a penalty.

Not seen that yet to comment... but thought I'd add that both of
West Ham's goals came from (IMHO) poor decisions from
Bramall/Assistant.
First goal.. (bear with me...) AFCB on the attack, ball played
into Evanilson who was marginally offside. Assistant puts flag
up, then lowers it after the ball was cleared. West Ham clear
the ball into our half, and after a short midfield tussle, we
come away with the ball. No-one anywhere near offside this time,
but the assistant flags again.
Surely this is a new phase of play... but no, offside given.
From the kick, long ball played in which end with the goal
resulting. Should have been defended, granted, but if the
freekick isn't very belatedly given, then it doesnt happen.
Second goal, Brooks clearly fouled 10 yards from the West Ham
box, not given (if we could all see it then surely the assistant
in front of us should have done) ball goes near the halfway line
near the touchline, Brooks chasing back, there's a brouhaha
which ends in Brooks and the opponent getting booked. Kick West
Ham, ball into the box, they score. So, ok the ball should have
been defended, but these were virtually the only times the ball
got into the AFCB area all game, and they would not have
happened had the decisions been made properly (IMHO)
Apart from those two incidents, I thought Bramall had a decent
enough game in awful conditions, with some 50/50s going either
way.

Not saying it is right, but how many penalties have you seen
given where a player is fouled after he gets a shot away? It
just doesn't happen.

Perhaps someone should write down all the unwritten rules so
players and spectators know what to expect.
