HUNGARY - REPUBLIC OF IRELAND Espen Andreas Eskås

Huge game for Eskas and an OFR for a penalty to Ireland after
only fifteen minutes. I think a correct decision.
A few heavy challenges thus far, I think Eskas could do with
taking a strict line for now.

Still no replay of the first Hungary goal, definitely looked
offside, would like to see the image they normally show.
       Great decision, incredibly tight

Replay just seen still looks offside to me to naked eye but must
       have been just on

Indeed the still images I have seen do look offside, but there
have been many times where even a slight angle can make a player
look offside who is just on. Would be nice to see the lines
drawn, but I'm sure they got it correct.
Edit: Images shown at HT demonstrate, as expected, clearly
       onside.

Ireland 8 playing him onside. His shoulder was closer so on
first glance he looks offside but Ireland 8 foot was further
       forward than anyone’s shoulder

Well done Ireland - great game of football to watch.
Our boycott of the World Cup continues for another 4 years...

Interesting game for the referee, I thought on the whole he was
fine but I wasn't always a fan of his disciplinary approach, I
thought he let a number of heavy challenges go, but not totally
consistently. I think AR1 made a number of excellent offside
calls and I think on the whole, in a huge game of this magnitude
the officials can be satisfied in delivering a performance where
the focus is on the teams and the incredibly dramatic ending.
One thing annoyed me that was after a fantastic and dramatic
win, our manager appeared to approach referee to dissent. He
wasn't ranting or raving, or even appeared to be disrespectful,
but I would think he would just be delighted with the result!
I'm not sure we deserved to win that game - but I won't
       complain!

       What an ending!!!!!!
Overall thought Eskas was solid.missed a couple things here and
there but nothing much and as said above he’ll be happy enough
considering the significance of the game

Just goes to show how hard offside is to judge, from the tv
angle and the angles they showed at the time I posted that
everything the eye can see says offside, it also shows how tv
       can shape things.
