Isn't that the same for the majority of officials regarding time
wasting? It's always more frustrating when losing but not so
much when it's your own team.

...... or until referees actually do that relatively easy part
of their job properly ?
Referees who do not make suitable allowance for time lost,
deliberately or otherwise, are depriving* the paying customers.
*I nearly used another word there but some people are so
sensitive.

We don't do as much of it nowadays. Grant McCann has been a
breath of fresh air in a lot of ways.

Sounds like the same sort of craphousery we had to put up with
at home to Burnley a couple of weeks ago.
Spent five minutes of the second half alone just waiting for Mr.
Heaton to take goal kicks.
Martin Atkinson finally had a word in about the 87th minute.
People pay a lot of money to watch football and not to see games
ruined because refs won't clamp down on craphouse tactics.
And thats before we get on to throw ins, kicking the ball away
or taking it with you..
I wish officials would crack down on this and start issuing
cautions early. Woud soon put a stop to it.
The Laws are there to help them.
In their next away game, Heaton was booked after just 32
minutes, perhaps because it was Chelsea they were playing and
not Bournemouth.
I know my team are no angels with timewasting either, but when
in Rome....

I think officiating these days is often too weak - they have got
into a system whereby timewasting, dissent, encroachment and so
on aren't penalised as they should be.
When was the last time at the top level a penalty was retaken, a
goalkeeper was penalised for holding onto the ball for longer
than 6 seconds or a player was shown a straight red card for
abusing a match official?
It's almost become accepted and commonplace now so it's
difficult to suddenly radically change on a random Saturday in
April - but certainly I would hope this is something that is
addressed over the summer. There are going to be a lot of law
changes coming in (some of them to help with timewasting, such
as the substituent process) and I'm sure there will be a lot of
new directives and so on, especially with the introduction of
VAR to the Premier League. It's a good chance to go back to
basics and start doing things properly from the start of next
season.
