Peljto and Pinheiro will be the first two to go from that list.
It could be that the other 14 will all make it. I think Taylor
will be okay..

I also think all 16 names will go to World Cup but 2/3 of them
as support officials.

In my opinion each Elite referee should be considered on his own
merits and if that means 2 (or even 3) from same country then so
be it
(I know I live in referee Utopia)
Otherwise the UEFA elite list should be limited to the
(perceived) number 1 in each country.
Both Oliver and Taylor comfortably sit in UEFA's top 10 so
should both go

I would be stunned if both Taylor and Oliver didn't go. For me,
the only reason they wouldn't would be political, as on merit
they are both comfortably in the top bracket of that UEFA list.

FIFA has also preselected the VAR for 2026 World Cup, who will
take part in seminars between January and February within their
respective confederations.

Great that Gillett gets to go as VAR - seems to be well thought
of and did the recent Arab Cup final. Would like to see him get
more on pitch with UEFA, on merit and bearing in mind his
experience.
I think the taboo over two from a country going has been broken
so think France and England will have two - and it would be
right, on merit. On merit, Spain and Italy would possibly
(rightly?) miss out, but think politics will mean a
less-influential federation could be sacrificed to allow them to
have one each - maybe should be as reserved, as others have
performed better I think.
I can see the list of 16 all going - uefa is seen as a solid bet
for big games and due to the high number of games and large
distances, a couple more than usual is no big deal? Rather than
have support refs, I think they have started to not state this
but have in mind who may only be 4th / get one game; they then
have the flexibility to change this if performances /
controversy / injury dictates. Maybe theyll do that?

It's so disappointing that Hungary don't have a single referee
on either list - refs or VAR. 6 years since Kassai Viktor
retired (near enough - his official retirement was 5 Jan 2020)
and we are still no closer to having an elite referee again.
