fans in general are really letting themselves down on this one.
I can't believe we are still sending vile comments in people's
directions over a footballing matter in 2025, the worrying thing
is part of me can believe it!

on LOTG from fans. One of the digital news outlets done a poll
last night and I checked just now to see the results, 77% of
people thought it was a "stonewall penalty"!

There was one post I saw that particularly took my interest that
stated Bramall is a Sheffield United supporter (no idea if
that’s true or if they’ve just associated the name) and that he
was supposedly still upset from the playoff final in May.
I agree with you on the handball. Don’t re-referee the game.
That’s a phrase that was thrown about far too much in the first
couple of seasons of VAR.

Sunderland have reportedly written to the premier league and
pgmol for an explanation of why it wasn't a penalty.

And if they have then I'm sure they will receive a very
courteous reply giving an explanation.

I have now watched the incident. My view; it's debatable. The
sort I would be pretty miffed if it was given against my team
and pretty disappointed not to be given against the opposition.
Referee's call, not enough, in my opinion, for VAR to suggest an
overturn.

I guess a reply stating that it was not a penalty because the
referee did not award one (and VAR did not advise him otherwise)
would not have been seen as helpful?

I think the other thing to remember here is PGMOL have openly
said they want less penalties for handling and that it needs to
be clearly deliberate handling. They are still looking at
whether the ball deflects off an opponent's own body before
hitting the arm even though that is no longer in law, and
personally I think that approach is better for the game.
There's no way on earth the penalty just given in the Arsenal
game would be given in the Premier League

And that is a problem, why are we so wrong in England and happy
to let clear and obvious errors go, there was a comment about me
mentioning the law wrong but what does it matter if the pgmol
ignore the changes themselves?

No bigger Sunderland supporter than me so here is my take on
proceedings.
Could not give a "flying ......" whether or not it was a
penalty.It wasn't given END OF !!!!!
Some you win some you lose.On another day another referee may
have given it but Thomas Bramall didn't. Can't do nowt about it
now.
As for Thomas Bramall himself................can't remember the
game but I am sure a while ago we were given the shiny end of
the stick over a similar " controversial" decision in a game he
officiated in that involved us.
As for his " alleged " support of Sheffield United then the only
obvious link is in his surname. If indeed he is a "Blade" then
what does it have to do with Sunderland AFC or indeed any club
apart from SUFC and SWFC ?
Yes one or two things didn't go our way but that is the nature
of football. The decisions TEAM A didn't get given are the same
as what TEAM B would not like given against them either.
Some people are really pathetic and need to get out more !!!!
All is well in my world this evening .[emoji1]

Well said, after all, it's only a game and shouldn't be taken so
seriously.

Ball hits an outstretched hand making his body unnaturally
bigger, closing ranks isn't how things improve honesty is
[/quote]
If you are going to criticise the match officials you really
need to get the laws right. There is absolutely nothing in the
laws about players making themself unnaturally bigger, that was
taken out a couple of seasons ago.
