Worldwide I’d say Valenzuela. Europe I’d say letexier with
marciniak a close 2nd

How on earth is Anthony Taylor not on the list?

I would agree - how Taylor isn’t on this list is astonishing.

Yes, I don't see why Anthony Taylor wasn't included as well as
Michael Oliver (France have 2 nominees).
I think last season was an interesting contrast. Without
getting into another argument of Taylor v Oliver, there was a
fairly widespread view that domestically 2024/25 was far from
Oliver's best season with too many kmi's. Taylor's performances
overall were better and far more consistent. I would agree.
That probably wasn't the same on the international stage where
from what I saw, and read on Law5 for example, Oliver's
performances were generally decent or good with little
controversy. There were, it seems, more issues on some of AT's
games.
Although he provoked unjustified anger with some Liverpool fans,
Oliver has started this PL season in better form, and Taylor has
also been doing well. So for me, both should be included in the
nominations, not either or.

Have to say the 2 French referees, Letexier and Turpin I usually
find very impressive. (mind you, they sometimes get more
criticism in their domestic games but I've no idea whether it's
justified).
And it's difficult to ignore Marciniak. I don't see enough of
the non-European referees to judge.
Sorry bmb. Kovacs can be brilliant but from what I've seen, he
can be rather unpredictable in both management style and overall
performance. Perhaps that's unfair as you see far more of him
than I do.
On balance, probably Letexier of the Eurpeans.

I am also quite surprised that Taylor isn’t on this list. I
think he is ahead of Oliver in terms of overall performances.

It feels like this list is a way of keeping the different
footballing federations happy, there's no way I'm afraid that
this depicts reality, Taylor being excluded at the hands of the
Spanish and Norweigian or at a stretch the Italian referee is a
clear sign that this list hasn't been generated fully on merit.
Faghani will probably get the males award as he had the
appointment of the year, that's how these things work. I don't
have enough of a knowledge on female refereeing to make a
judgement but Frappart had the Euros final so I'd suggest she's
definitely a contender.
