England v Latvia - Anastasios (Tasos) Sidiropoulos

Just setting this up whilst watching tonight’s game.
Has anyone seen this referee before?
Just wondering if his movement always look this laboured? He
seems to do a little jump every time before moving, at first I
thought he might be carrying an injury but it appears to just be
a habit unless someone says otherwise.

He's been around the block a long while! I believe he's in a
mid-late 40s, I don't know if he was one of the last to be
demoted from the elite group or whether he survives to this day,
I've seen him frequenting the latter stages of both the UEL and
UECL in the last few years, I'd make a guess at saying he's been
on the FIFA list for a good 10+ years?
He's one of those refs who isn't consistent enough to be
considered for high profile appointments, and neither
unfortunately is his best good enough for those appointments
either, however he's still a very steady pair of hands and this
game should be a piece of cake for him.

Watched him in August for the first time in the second leg of a
conference league qualifier between Dundee United and SK Rapid.
I thought he was excellent that night and would happily have him
again for club or country. Scotland and Greece being in the same
World Cup qualification group has put paid to the latter though.

Reminded me a bit of watching step 5 referees in their late 40s
and 50s, you aren't going to see any dynamic running but their
experience means they will almost always be in the right place.
A little hop or jump before setting off running is almost
certainly the consequence of a previous injury. You become
almost scared to set off straight into a sprint so test it out
       tentatively first.

Aside from the missed penalty, he was fine. Indeed he deserves
praise for keeping awake as this was another mismatch involving
two teams of such widely differing abilities. It was the first
time I have watched a qualifying match for sometime - I would
rather watch re runs of Supermarket sweep than that.

Hackett would have coped with that match admirably!
