A poor call on field to award Sunderland a penalty and rightly
overturned by VAR.

Not quite sure what happened to the topic I commented on but it
appears to have been deleted…
Anyhow, Attwell is not having a good afternoon, poor decision
for the penalty, and then Traore booked for diving when there
was clear contact by Fernandes.

9/10 old trafford performance in my opinion, only blemish was
the yellow for casemiro

Did the var go to the toilet when atwell gave the yellow for the
'dive'? Forward has controlled the ball, keeper is out of the
play only a defender to beat but didnt even seem to be checked
The penalty decision in europe not giving it is a clear and
obvious error as shown during the week, in the prem giving it is
a clear and obvious error, who is wrong uefa or the premier
league?

Can anyone link the two incidents as mentioned on here please as
they are not on the PL YouTube highlights and then I can make an
opinion on them? Thanks

If you are given a red card and it is successfully appealed
then it can be rescinded with the player concerned available for
selection for the next match.
Why can a YC not be successfully appealed ?
The decision to book Traore for simulation was blatantly a wrong
one [ even Mike Dean said so] .

The overturned penalty

Worth noting that indirect contact when the boot is raised is
classed as careless according to the premier league guidance

For those interested
Hackett, who previously served as general manager of the
Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), believes
referee Stuart Attwell was right to award the spot-kick for what
he described as a “reckless” high boot inside the area. Speaking
to Football Insider, Hackett said he did not believe the
incident met the threshold for VAR involvement.
It was an interesting decision in the Manchester United versus
Sunderland game, where referee Stuart Atwell awarded a penalty
kick for what was a high boot. VAR Neil Davis, an assistant
referee operating at Stockley Park, intervened and, as a result,
the penalty kick was overturned. For me, that's a wrong call.
