I haven’t checked back on RTR but Paul Marsden seems to have
gone AWOL on the appointments front recently?
I’m not sure if I’ve seen one good review on here about his
performances.
We've got him on the boards at Bolton vs Peterborough on
Saturday.
I agree, based on previous reviews of him, I hope he's not
required to swap with any of the others (unlike the 4th in our
last home game).
Based on these reviews I’m surprised he gets as many games as he
has done.
Edit (can’t find delete!) - wrong ref, I was reading the Mather
comment!
A very up and down referee in my experience - SG2 potential at
his best but has form for letting games completely get out of
hand. Our game at Cheltenham last season was one of the worst
officiated games i’ve seen in the last few seasons.
I assume you are referring to Marsden!? 😛
Would he ever get to SG2 considering he was demoted out of the
EFL altogether at some point.

No, I thought your reply was about Mather and not Marsden - my
mistake, made a right pig’s ear of it 😂

Colchester United FC (First Team) v Chesterfield FC (First Team)
Football League 2
Referee: Swabey, Lee
Assistant Referee: Hickman, Andrew
Assistant Referee: Smith, Rob
Fourth Official: Wilson, Marc Aylott, Andrew
A pretty good day’s work for Lee Swabey and team in Essex this
afternoon, with minimal incidents or controversy for an 8 goal
game. I typically like Lee’s style, I thought he should have
cautioned a couple of players extra than he did, Dunkley
certainly, but nothing too bad. I thought he also gave 2 or 3
kind free kicks Colchester’s way in the second half. Nothing to
report of the AR’s, other than Rob Smith missing an out of play
throw in, but hardly worth mentioning.
One incident of note is the home penalty given just before half
time - on the soft side, but I think it’s an acceptable
decision. Whilst Lee didn’t take this into account i’m sure, it
also came in a prolonged period of persistent fouling by
Chesterfield, so I have little sympathy.
A solid day for team ref and a highly unexpected 6 goal
performance for my U’s, a very happy home crowd at full time!

Bromley FC v Tranmere Rovers FC
Football League 2
Referee: Oldham, James
Assistant Referee: D'Urso, Daniel
Assistant Referee: Tranter, Adrian
Fourth Official: Howick, Kevin
I wasn't at the game, but it sounded like an eventful afternoon
for James Oldham; including a penalty and RCs for Bromley's
manager and captain in separate incidents. Fans from both sides
not that impressed and looking back, I see Ryanellis described
Mr Oldham's officiating in a Crewe game last season as weak.
However from the highlight's I'm inclined to think that the
calls in the Key Match Incidents were correct.
RC for Bromley boss Andy Woodman Seems to have been for protests
after a free-kick award to Rovers which led to their first
equalising goal. There was no infringement for the goal though
haven't seen the free-kick award
Bromley penalty. Bizarre incident, where Patrick clears the ball
which hits Smith with arms alooft in the box he was defending.
No intent, but no reason for the defender to be making himself
bigger in that situation and under current guidance penalty
inevitable
RC for Bromley's Webster. A pull-back on Rovers striker just
inside the Bromley half near the touchline, after he'd got away
from him. No obvious covering player, though the distance to the
goal was such that some may have considered a YC.

I agree with you, KMI decisions look correct to me (I must say I
did laugh at the Tranmere conceded penalty). James has always
been one of my favourite officials on the national list, glad to
see he had a good game. Andy Woodman seems to either have a lot
of words for officials every week, sometimes positive but
usually negative.

Elliot Bell has replaced Simon Mather for the game between
Harrogate Vs Crewe tonight.

Elliot Bell - Harrogate v Crewe
I stayed in the comfort of my own home to watch the game last
night in front of the cameras and I must say I wasn’t impressed
by the replacement Elliot Bell. He missed 2 pens for Crewe - one
in the first half after our player got stood on then taken out
then in the second half the Harrogate defender playing netball
in his own box and, somehow, the free kick went their away after
our attacker allegedly fouled him? Not so sure about that. He
also failed to play one advantage where our player was taken out
on the touchline, but a fellow Crewe player picked up the ball
and was steaming through, still on the counter attack, until
Elliot pulled it back for a free kick…. When there was a
stoppage in play, there is a video that I’ve seen where our
captain and manager seem to be questioning AR1 about some of the
bemusing decisions. Our #19 also got wiped out on the half way
line which wasn’t given as a foul. Apparently according to the
sky commentators the foul was “accidental” and not “malicious”
therefore it wasn’t a foul 😂😂
Not the first time Mr Bell hasn’t had a good game this season.
To end on a positive, both the yellow cards in this game were
correct and he had a good rapport with players. Can’t start a
fire, can’t start a fire without a spark. Max Sanders on fire!

I had the game on the background and was watching this incident.
I struggle to see how you could describe the player as steaming
through. He was 40 yards up the pitch on the touch line with a
defender to get past. It would’ve taken a worldie to score from
there. I agree that Elliot could’ve delayed the whistle a little
bit longer though and see if the Crewe player could’ve got
through.

I thought he had a good game tbh Ryan. Only the missed advantage
and missed foul on halfway you mention were errors. The first
half penalty shout was stronger than the other but I don’t think
play on was wrong

Reason why I said this was because he only had 2 defenders to
beat and was in the process of beating one of them.
