Sorry how posters can say that’s anything other than a penalty
is baffling. He hits the ball past the goalkeeper and Martinez
swings his right foot and takes him out. It’s a stonewall
penalty. Madley continuing his poor start to the season

I genuinely didn’t think there would be so many people saying
       this is a pen.
He is going down way before Martinez gets there, if he stays on
his feet, he will be taken out and therefore get a pen but he
goes down first, therefore in no world should it be a pen

He isn’t going down he’s adjusting his body with Martinez coming
out swinging his feet. If I was on the floor and somebody
punched me in the face would it not be a penalty because I was
already on the floor? What a stupid and nonsense comment. A foul
       is a foul
If I’d have missed that at step 4/5 I’d be bottom of the
       observer merit table

DG and Dale Johnson agree, no penalty. King changed direction
looking for the penalty. However, Johnson feels that if a
penalty had been awarded, VAR wouldn't have overturned it.

This is why part of the reason why fans don't like VAR.
DG and DJ say no penalty. However if referee gives penalty then
they say VAR wouldn't overturn it even though it shouldn't be a
       penalty.

Because it is subjective, like almost all decisions in football
are. I said this right from day 1 of VAR being planned, it was
never going to be like technology in other sports, in tennis the
decisions are all factual, in cricket we have is the ball
hitting the wicket or not, in rugby it is things like was the
pass forward, was the ball grounded, was the tackle high, etc.
In football we have factual decisions for goals, which we
already had GLT for, and offsides, pretty much every other
decision is subjective. Some are less subjective and more
obvious than others, but there are plenty of reviewable
decisions where you show to a room of 100 referees and 50 will
say one decision and 50 the other. For that reason VAR was
always going to be very challenging and controversial in
       football compared to other sports.
