T HARRINGTON - Forest v Sunderland

I really can’t see what Harrington has seen to give the free
kick which led to the Sunderland goal.
Looks like two players trying to win the ball and that’s it…
things should move along after that without question.
The card is the icing on the cake of a very bad decision.

Thoughts on his performance in the first half ?
As a Sunderland supporter I thought he has had a good game so
far.
Yes I am aware that there has been controversy over our goal but
all in all I have no issues with his performance.

To me, it’s quite clear when you watch it back what Tony
Harrington has given. He’s given an indirect free kick to
Sunderland because of an act of simulation by Dominguez and
personally from the replay I have no issue with it.
I cannot see any contact on Dominguez on the replay and then he
just throws himself to the ground and lies on the deck. So for
me, an excellent call of simulation by Harrington.
Edit - and of course, simulation is a mandatory caution

It had happened twice earlier on in the first half and I think
he has probably thought enough is enough.

Only seen the FK incident (as mentioned above) and the second
half and it seems that I have to write the same sentence about
Mr Harrington’s officiating.
It was simply ANOTHER excellent performance from Harrington. He
referees with calmness and composure and he very rarely gets
things wrong. Any appeals from Forest players were emphatically
dismissed and I love how he reads a game in the dying stages
when players on the winning side fall with little contact and he
just dismisses those incidents and lets the game continue.
Why oh why PGMOL do you continue to underuse this excellent
official? I really want to see a bigger name tie next to his
name this season because I think he really deserves it.
A rare shining light in the refereeing world in the last couple
of seasons. Well done Harrington.

For me, disagree with the Sky team, Harrington with a brave but
ultimately spot on call to book Domínguez for a dive.
I’ve been asking for our officials to start being braver and
make these calls on field to help cut down the behaviour, and
Harrington has exemplified that this evening.
The hope now is that Domínguez thinks twice about feigning
injury following non-existent contact , but wouldn’t count on
it…

Lots of confusion from the away end over the decision, watching
it back he got it correct.
Now we need more of these decisions given to get it out of the
game.

100%. They can’t rely on VAR as it isn’t deemed a key incident
such as offside, DOGSO, foul inside penalty area or SFP, but
because of that there has to be more on field responsibility,
and Harrington has shown that here. Seen similar with Oliver
booking recent dives, so full credit.
