The explanation of the attacker not having been in control of
the ball is not sufficient mitigation when the goal scoring
chance is so evident in my view.

It’s also clear that Mbeumo actually made contact with the ball
as attempt to score and the pull back definitely hindered his
motion in striking the ball at goal.
It’s a terrible non intervention by VAR.
On a general note, I’m really starting to think that with all
the commotion and incompetence show by VAR so far this season,
we are getting total inconsistencies in the decision making and
what warrants VAR getting involved.
We have had situations where they’ve come in for ridiculous
minor incidents (Salisbury in Chelsea v Fulham), yet the
clearest DOGSO red you’ll ever see yesterday (Madley), was not
even given an OFR for it.
Mr Webb has some sorting out to do. These are FIFA/UEFA VAR
officials not doing their jobs properly.

Completely agree. Hooper’s very iffy start to the season
continues with 2 wrong on-field calls at Chelsea yesterday that
benefitted Chelsea initially.

100% agree, was going to start a new thread after watching MOTD
highlights. The DOGSO should have been spotted in real time,
there were no players blocking the view and it was pretty clear.
The high boot into the face later in the game was 100% as foul
challenge (also certainly careless and likely endangering the
safety of an opponent). I am not sure what disappoints me more,
the on-field referee not penalising in the first place or the
VAR sitting on his hands.

I was astonished that no penalty was given for Gusto’s kick on
Minteh. It was a very obvious foul and penalty IMO.
On the red card, was the offside checked? The striker looked
very close to being offside. It definitely looked like a clear
foul in real time.
We don’t get replays in the ground.

Refwatch and Dale Johnson agree that it was DOGSO, the latter
stating this would go down as a VAR error. A text book example
of a DOGSO. Oh dear.
