       C PAWSON - Brentford v Man U

Is that not a red card for Collins for DOGSO?
I think Betts told Pawson to give the penalty as he was unsure,
but Collins hasn’t made any attempt to play the ball as he was
miles away from it, and Mbuemo went down.
Very surprised it wasn’t upgraded by VAR.

Bizarre of the VAR not to intervene there. As obvious a DOGSO
red card as you’ll see. Andy Madley, you simply have to tell
Pawson to go to the screen there!!
United must be fuming. Only themselves to blame for the missed
       penalty though!

I think it’s a RC for DOGSO and meets the standard for VAR
       intervention.
I wouldn’t be overly critical of the on field officials, when
the foul happens just off the ball it can be tough to spot and
even tougher to make a SPA/DOGSO assessment.
However I am confused as to the VAR not calling for an OFR. The
explanation of the attacker not having been in control of the
ball is not sufficient mitigation when the goal scoring chance
is so evident in my view.

Madley has had shocking 2025 onfield and that’s carrying onto
       var now too…
       Horrendous and laughable
(Understandable for Pawson not too give into.as was said above,
       he looked a bit unsure

I’ve just watched the highlights of this on YouTube and I happen
to agree with other posters that this should’ve been a red card
       for DOGSO.
It very much reminded me of the penalty that Manchester United
were awarded last season in the Europa League away to Athletic
Club. The referee, Espen Eskas, didn’t see the incident live and
then VAR intervened and gave a penalty and red card to the
       defender.
So I’d say that Andy Madley on VAR got this wrong. Tricky to
judge on field but an OFR should’ve occurred.

My two pennyworth. DOGSO for me too. If the attacker didn't have
control it was because of the defender's actions. Note the word
       IF.
Secondly, once a penalty has been awarded I would suggest the
Laws are ammended to prevent substitutions, thereby delaying the
penalty kick. Too often, the penalty taker has to wait for an
unreasonable time to take the kick. The substitutions can take
place at the next break in play. Just my opinion.

A wrong decision yes- but an understandable one from Pawson.
Unlike hooper at Chelsea who needed VAR to see a clear case of
DOGSO which should have been seen onfield, and also decided
Brighton player being kicked in the head didn’t warrant a
       penalty
