A magnificent umpire, a true gentleman and a very friendly guy
who always had time for everyone.
I saw dickie a few weeks back at Scarborough, gracing the ground
and chatting to everyone as was his way. He was starting to look
his age in very recent times but still his passing came as a
       huge shock.
Always flying the flag for Barnsley and Yorkshire, dickie will
be missed by many around the world as well as in Yorkshire
especially at Barnsley FC and Yorkshire CCC.
RIP legend, the world wont be a better place without you.

The word legend and star are these days overused but in Dickie
Bird's case they are both apt and understated
He let the players shine, without missing an opportunity to
       interject some Yorkshire humour
Totally respected by the vast majority of players.
I'm sure he and Parky will be keeping an eye on the Ashes from
       the boundary rope upstairs
       RIP

Funeral was held in Barnsley this afternoon. And of course it
       rained! RIP.
