Sam Barrott - Sunderland v Aston Villa

A piece of stupidity of the highest order by Reinildo with a
clear kick out on Cash and Barrott correctly issuing a red card
for violent conduct. Would imagine Bobby Madley came in with
some words as it happened right in front of him.

Clear red card cant be kicking out but how did cash avoid a
booking there, no attempt to play the ball but to take an
       opponent out late

Right, question. Can you stop a corner from being taken and then
book a player for holding? Cause Barrott stopped the corner from
happening just as it’s being taken and then cautions Maatsen for
I presume holding. Is it simply a case of the ball is not in
       play? Surely a word…

A better question is at what point should you stop talking and
let them shoot themselves in the foot? They had plenty of
       warnings about holding.

Couldn’t agree more! Again it goes back to lack of research and
preparation on behalf of the officials though. Cash, known for
being quite a cynical, not particularly gifted footballer, will
target his wingers game after game. He had earlier pushed
Reinildo over in front of the ad boards with the ball out of
play. Nothing given. He then does exactly the same in this
incident essentially. Not playing the ball, only content to
       foul cynically. Again no punishment.
The kick out from Reinildo was stupid and deserved the red card.
But Cash got what he wanted from it, as he does game in, game
out in terms of his approach to opponents.

Nonsense for me. Let the corner come in and give a penalty. Why
should Sunderland be disadvantaged when a foul has taken place
from the referee trying to "manage the game"? All clubs were
told at the start of the season that holding in the box would be
a focus for this season. If you are stupid enough to do it then
they should be punished properly and have a penalty against
       them.

Pet peeve of mine is booking players for offences committed
while a corner is about to be kicked. If a defender, or
attacker, is fouling in the box and the kick comes in, just give
       the free kick or penalty!
All a referee needs to do is, on the first corner for both
sides, just remind and warn both sets of players he is watching
       and will penalise. Pretty simple.
Spotting the offences can be really tricky, as I have pointed
out before. So much nonsense going on all over the box. My
issue is when they see it and give it, but don’t allow play to
develop to give the decision, instead choosing to penalise
       beforehand.

Cash went down as though he'd had his goolies shot off and got
away scott free. It was petulant but violent conduct? The game
       is officially dead.

Yes violent conduct and a red card correctly issued

Interesting moment today. Martinez catches ball and tries to
quickly throw to a teamate. However, he ends up making a mess of
it and it goes about six feet in the air, he then catches the
ball again. Been a few years since I had the whistle out but
should that have been an indirect free kick???
