Dream Referee Team

I just thought of this and it seems a fun little thing to do so
I’ll post it on here to see what you guys think:
If you were refereeing a game at the top level in the Premier
League, and you had to choose who you wanted as your other
officials, who would you choose and why?
Maybe you have a soft spot for them, maybe you even know them
personally. Adding VAR officials is optional. Look forward to
seeing what people come up with!

Personally, I would go:
Referee - Me
Assistants - Neil Davies & Akil Howson
4th - Leigh Doughty
VAR - Matt Donohue
I rarely ever see Doughty without a smile on his face so I feel
he would be a great person to work with. From small clips on
Social Media from PGMOL, I have seen Akil & Neil seem like a
great pair and two really nice blokes. Matt Donohue is probably
one of the best communicators (purely based of Match Officials
Micd Up) and I would feel like I could trust him a lot.

5O: István Kovács (4O is going to be taking over from me when I
get injured in the prematch warm up so need to have a

(cause I follow both of them on instagram)
4O - Sam Barrott (favourite official)
I like bmb’s idea of a 5th official as I would also probably get
injured early
5O - Stephen Martin (he can teach me how to get some big
muscles. Macho man part 2 incoming… 😅)
VAR - James Bell (very reliable and excellent communicator)
Edit - Shoutout to John Brooks as well who I met last December
when he gave a talk to some of us down in Kent. Really nice guy
and a good talker. Wouldn’t mind working with him either as I
think I’d learn a lot from watching him officiate.

As long as Mel Burgin was in the team I don’t really mind who
else. Always comes across as a lovely person and has undoubtedly
the best legs in football!
