Water starting to come up on the pitch…
Hopefully Old Trafford’s drainage is better than at Ewood Park

Well it’s not going to stop raining there until the early hours
tomorrow so another twenty minutes of heavy rain could end this
       game…

I thought that red for the goalkeeper was SFP. I’m not sure it
was an obvious goalscoring opportunity and the height of the
goalkeeper’s foot endangered the safety of his opponent.

Superb performance from Bankes. Got all the key decisions
correct and combined with the difficult conditions, one of the
best showings this season so far.

I can sort of agree about the Chelsea player waving an imaginary
card but Bankes’ focus was quite rightly on Casemiro’s challenge
and whether it was SPA. He correctly ruled it to be a foul and
       SPA.
Your comment about ‘desperate to send him off’ is totally off
the mark. And why did you bring consistency into it when the two
things you mention are vastly different?

I brought consistency into it because that is what we all want -
and booking a player for waving an imaginary card is one of the
easiest things to be consistent on across all games in the
season. Banks will have booked players for this in other games
as will other referee's but tonight he chose not to consistently
enforce this. Personally, I find it very confusing why someone
would be unsure what that is to do with consistency?

Other than not booking Shaw for a cynical breakaway midway
through the first half, thought Bankes did well here. Big
appointment for him in terms of both clubs’ and the issues this
fixture has brought up, and much to my surprise he was fairly
assertive and gave decisions on field, which also were spot on.
Would agree with others on here that Sanchez’s challenge was in
fact SFP, studs high onto the knee in that fashion is beyond the
       offence of recklessness for me.
