Tony Harrington - Grimsby v Manchester United (EFL Cup)

I don’t know what it is about him but I really love watching
Tony Harrington referee. He exudes calmness, his decision making
is accurate. Definitely the most underrated referee on the SG1
list.
Once again, tonight so far, he’s been fantastic. Nothing wrong
with his decision making. Good call to disallow a Grimsby goal
for handball.
Him and Grimsby have been amazing thus far. The other team in
the game, well… the less said the better

Although not refereeing related, but my god what has happened to
Man U. They are really nothing more than lower mid table pub
side in my eyes.
How the mighty have fallen!
As for Harrington, he was a very good, top of the class EFL
referee and deserved his promotion. He should be getting more
noticeable matches in my eyes, like Hooper started to pick up
when he settled onto SG1.

I agree regarding Harrington , Utd and Grimsby. But probably
wrong decision to book Fredicson considering Grimsby made
several late fouls that usually bring a caution .

Has Harrington ever been at the centre of a controversy?
Burnley-Luton maybe and even that was a 50/50 - shows how well
he’s done since his promotion. Up there with the best in the
country imo

I think Harrington is heavily underrated. He is head and
shoulders above some other SG1 officials, of whom I won’t point
fingers, but I am sure we can hazard a few guesses.
He is extremely unluckly to not get a consistent run of games.

Potentially incorrect offside decision unfortunately, let’s hope
it doesn’t cost Grimsby or else there will be lots of protest.

Why was a United substitute allowed to come onto the pitch and
go up to a Grimsby player receiving treatment?

I'm not so sure it was deliberate play from Maguire so I think
it's an acceptable decision. It seemed more of an instinctive
movement of the leg than a coordinated one and he certainly
never achieved control or the desired contact.

Looked a poor decision- defender deliberately played ball,
albeit badly. Reset phase of play?
On to penalties....

Think Harrington may need a new note book to record these spot
kicks!
