Martin Atkinson - Crystal Palace v Man City

I tend to think Atkinson remains one of our better referees, but
I honestly thought the officials had a shocker today.
Atkinson himself was flat throughout, seemed disinterested at
best. His foul detection was inconsistent; I do recognise it was
a niggly game but officials at the top level should be able to
cope with that, and apply the laws consistently. His award of
the free kick for Palace's goal was a joke. There is simply no
       foul committed.
His assistants let him down too: a couple of incorrect offside
calls from the assistant on the dugout side; and an appalling
decision for City's third goal from the other one. Jesus is
       clearly offside.
I hear a lot of criticism about our officials, a lot of "this is
the best league in the world but the officials are not up to
scratch" type of stuff; I tend to think it slightly unfair, but
it is an entirely fair summary of Atkinson and co this
afternoon. This was an enormous game in the context of this
season's title race and two goals came as a direct result of
incorrect decisions by the officials. It just isn't OK.

You can’t criticise the decisions against city, the way some
posters go on here you’d think they were robbed every week!
Yes a poor decision for city’s third goal but it was a clear
       foul for palaces free kick!

I agree a clear foul for the free kick leading to Palace's goal.
City's third goal was offside but v tight and I would not wish
to blame the AR. It made no real difference, City being far
       better than the home side.

Well it's hardly anyone else's fault. That's their job getting
tight decisions right. If they only have to get the easy ones
right, anyone could do the job !

No one is perfect and mistakes happen. Even Sterling made a
mistake and his was an easy one. Let’s have a go at him as well
then as that’s his job, to score!
