Could not agree more. Absolutely shameful, disgraceful person.
Both sets of fans have their ultimate respect to Diogo and his
brother - then you get the likes of this. Not worth our time

Not a good start to the PL season really. VAR controversy,
racial abuse from the crowd and Taylor's control on the game was
diminished following these incidents in the first half. Credit
to him though, I think he regained control after half time and
had a good second half.
Michael Oliver is in my opinion, no longer the best official we
have in England. I think his involvement in VAR should be
reduced, especially in big, high profile matches such as the
first match of the season.

Enjoyable game of football overall. Thought Taylor and team did
fine overall and contributed to a good spectacle.
Regarding the handling offence, I think there are a few
questions here. Protocol for VAR to get involved here is that
the referee has made a clear and obvious error on an incident
justifying a red card (or penalty, goal etc of course).
We don’t know what VAR actually said so will leave that part for
later discussion once any audio is released.
But for VAR to get involved here, he needs to be sure on two
things;
1. An offence of handling occurred
2. That offence denied an obvious goal scoring opportunity
The challenge with the first aspect is not only deeming did
player handle the ball (yes) but was it a deliberate offence?
Additionally, what has the referee said? If Taylor has said he
saw the ball hit the hand and it was accidental it’s going to be
difficult for VAR to come in. That’s before considering whether
it’s DOGSO. To be clear, I wouldn’t dispute a call of handling
and DOGSO, but I’m not sure it’s a catastrophic clanger as being
made out in some discussions elsewhere. I think there’s just
about enough doubt on the DOGSO element for VAR to stay out of
it; Taylor was in a good position with a good view. Overall, did
the referee make a clear and obvious error?
One of those that most Liverpool fans would want free kick and
red card, but others would say a bit harsh. As a neutral and
considering the general tolerance for handling offences in
England compared to other countries in Europe, I was OK with the
outcome.

When are they going to clamp down on taking throw ins from the
where the ball went out of play? There was one late on where the
Liverpool defender took the throw in at least 20 yards higher up
the pitch rather than towards the corner flag. You wouldn't get
away with at a free kick so why are throw ins fair game?

I was at Anfield last night and from my seat it was clear that
the Bournemouth defender committed a DOGSO offence. I can’t see
any justification for VAR not to intervene and the distance from
goal was equivalent to the distance when Gravenberch was
correctly sent off in the final game of last season.
I thought Anthony Taylor missed at least two mandatory cautions
and in my opinion he allowed the game to get out of his control
in the first half. Not his best performance.
I don’t want to comment on the disgraceful incident that stopped
the game, the only comment I would make regarding the crowd was
that the Bournemouth fans were magnificent and a credit to their
club.

It’s so disappointing that a really cracking game of football
has been overshadowed by the actions of 1 supporter. Shame he
didn’t take notice of the no room for racism badge he was
wearing…
I do just want to mention Mo Salah. At the end of the game he
stood trying to sing the Diogo Jota song with the fans but
couldn’t because he was in absolute bits. His grief and raw
emotion was for me very powerful. A reminder that players have
feelings and at the end of the day are human beings.
Aside of 1 idiot who will have probably already quite rightly
lost his season ticket, both sets of fans were incredible. The
tribute to Jota, the banner held up by the AFCB fans in support
and solidarity, the impeccable respect during the 1 mins silence
and the non stop noise during the game should be mentioned. It
was a great atmosphere.
