Leigh Doughty and Richard Woodward must be car sharing at the
moment. Woodward is Doughty's AR1 at Coventry v Luton in the
Carabao Cup on Tuesday (12th), Barnsley v Bolton on Saturday
16th and Huddersfield v Doncaster on Tuesday 19th.

By the way, does anyone know if Richard has retired from the
police and swapped hi-vis jacket for hi-vis flag full time
nowadays, since his promotion to SG2 AR last year? I appeared
on an episode of Motorway Cops with him a few years ago after
one of our vans was hit by a drunk driver!

My first home league game for the season for me on Saturday, and
       he comes to town…
Last time he visited Crewe was on 22nd December 2023, Crewe 1-3
Barrow, where he gave a penalty for a very very very light push
which turned into a Superman dive by Barrow’s George Ray.

They're not actually allowed to car share. Even if they live in
the same street! Main reason being if a reason arises that holds
them up on their travel, major accident or something that causes
long delays, if they are in the same car that's 2 or more of the
team who may be late or not arrive in time for kick off, whereas
if they are in separate cars there is more chance 1 of them can
divert and use a different route.

I thought there would be something like that in place. However,
I then thought the policy had changed as I regularly see
officials arriving/departing the stadium together on matchdays.
On most occasions they park directly behind the visiting team
coach at the main reception or player entrance in a minibus or
people carrier size car. I assume this is a taxi from a
rendezvous point such as a hotel. But i've also seen two
officials (I won't name or state their role) arrive in the same
car together and park in the player's car park (I was the
steward who directed them in). That was a couple of years ago
       though.

But if they live in the same street and there is a serious hold
up, then they are both going to be delayed whether they are in
the same car or driving in convoy!

Yep, it took me the best part of 5 hours to get from North
London to Dartford (23 miles) and I rocked up just after the
scheduled kick off. The other three officials had come from the
South and were all there on time, luckily for me the Barnet team
coach pulled into the car park 30 seconds after me as they were
       stuck in the same traffic.

Is there a requirement for match officials to drive? I’ve never
known/heard of any take public transport

SG1 and SG2 certainly in London met up at a hotel and then were
       chauffeured in to ground
Not sure how this has evolved over the years

No requirement to drive. There are at least 2 ARs who travel by
       train when visiting Darsetshire.
As far as I know all SG1 meet at a hotel and travel from there
to the ground together in a chauffeured people carrier. Not sure
       about SG2 & below though.
