Yes, congratulations to all concerned. Perhaps JCFC's recent
comment on the Club World Cup thread that quite often nowadays
the biblical principle of "the first shall be last and the last
shall be first" is enacted means that Chris Kavanagh will
referee the FA Cup Final at the end of the 2025/26 season. I
can't think of any more deserving recipient.
For myself, I can't start getting really seriously interested in
football until the Proms ( First Night this evening ) Season has
       concluded.

Congratulations to Kav and team and i am sure your prediction
for the katter part of the season will go down very well on the
south coast with the standard proviso that he shall not wear ……

The Proms, good to see you are a fan too. For me the Last Night
has sadly lost something in recent years. I fondly remember the
days when the wonderful charismatic James Loughran took the
baton, I think on 5 occasions. Sad to see that he passed away
       last year.

The Proms are a great institution though what Sir Henry Wood
might think of some of the contemporary Proms is probably best
not to speculate upon. I find the second half of the Last Night
a bit too like pantomime for my taste but it's a grand
tradition. Thinking of yesteryear, the formidable Constance
Shacklock singing Rule Britannia, once heard and never
       forgotten.

I am no expert on classical music (or refereeing, many would
add) but Mrs Leggy and I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening at
the Royal Albert Hall last night. We were entertained by an
excellent Trumpeter before the interval and The Liverpool Phil
did a superb job of bringing Dvorak's 9th to life. It was
introduced to me via a certain TV advert for bread but I have
come to love the entire piece. For those interested, last
night's Prom is on BBC4 tonight - thoroughly recommended.

From The New World has long been one of my favourites of the
concert repertoire. Thank you for your recommendation, I shall
endeavour to hear it on 'catch up' or whatever it's called.
The Hovis advert sticks in many of our memories. Purportedly set
somewhere 'up North' ( or so the accent of the commentary would
have us believe ) it was a Czech composer's American inspired
tune filmed in Shaftesbury, Dorset. Picture and sound can make
       you believe almost anything.
