       Sheffield Wednesday

The latest chaos of an unsuitable owner threatening the
existence of one of the longest standing members of English
football. After two consecutive months of Dejphon Chansiri not
paying the wages of players and staff Wednesday are now in this
       situation ...
       - A 3 window transfer ban meaning no fees can be paid until
January 2027, this includes agent fees and loan fees
       - All players can now exercise their right to terminate their
contract, and it would appear most have, due to not being paid
       for two consecutive months
       - All coaching staff are out of contract, and the only one who
isn't, the manager Danny Rohl, seems to be refusing to come back
on the basis of breach of contract.
       - Training ground upgrades haven't been completed, meaning the 5
first team players that did report for pre-season training this
week had to take themselves to a local park
       - There's now an embargo listed for late payment to HMRC, which
is generally the one that pushes things over the edge
As it stands I would be very surprised if Wednesday can start
the season. They have no pre-season friendlies arranged, no
players, no coaching staff, no staff to be able to organise
games at Hillsborough, and are generally in a state of complete
limbo. And the owner is burying his head in the sand, issuing
rambling statements about how he is trying his hardest but at
the same time refusing to engage properly with potential buyers.
I'm biased as I support them, but I feel we might be on the
verge of probably the biggest failure of a Football League club.

What an awful situation. Been in similar situations with AFCB
over the years, will never forget how heartbreaking it was
sitting at the Winter Gardens, not too many years ago, with us
being 15 mins away from liquidation - the debt was 'only' about
£1000 to the taxman. 28 years later & that's the cost of a
burger... I hope something good can happen and the club be
       saved. Heartbreaking.

It is looking unlikely that Sheffield Wednesday will even play a
game this season, and I think it is very, very likely that they
will not play the first game of the season vs Leicester. Very
awful situation they are in. Regardless of the fact they have a
new manager, no preparation, very very thin squad, financial &
stadium troubles and much more, I don’t think they will be
playing many, if any, games this season. I wouldn’t be surprised
if protests get in the way of many home games, if played.

Very sad. I do wonder how the football regulator could have
prevented this happening. An owner who is at odds with the fans
but as the owner, he has every right to do what he is doing
whatever supporters may think. Who he sells to, the price he
wants is part of commercial dealing and not the business of a
regulator. I feel for the supporters here.

I think we will play games, but with a lot of youth team
players. That said, the players haven't been paid yet again,
and are now talking about refusing to turn up, so the scheduled
friendly tomorrow is now off. There is some talk that for the
televised game at Leicester next Sunday the players will walk
out, do the handshake, and then walk back down the tunnel and
refuse to play That would no doubt draw severe sanctions from
the EFL, but equally they need to take a good look at themselves
for allowing this to happen. It hasn't happened overnight, this
has been brewing for years, and it is now at least 6 times that
he has failed to pay the players and staff.
In terms of what happens next, there's no easy way out.
Chansiri can't afford to sell on the cheap as he has secured
loans against Hillsborough, and no one is going to buy without
getting the ground. That means administration, but the problem
there is it would only be Sheffield Wednesday FC, of which
Chansiri is the sole director, would go into administration.
His other company, Sheffield 3 wouldn't which would mean anyone
buying the club out of administration would have to pay him rent
for the ground or somehow buy it off him.

I am seeing several reports here there and everywhere saying
that Sheffield Wednesday could be put into administration.
Obviously, nobody knows how true they are, but everytime I look
around more and more seem to be popping up.
Really, really feel for the fans that, especially the other
night, want to go and support their team but want to make a
powerful statement for the better of their club.

Better to go into administration than be liquidated, better of
course to have decent owners in the first place but the fit &
proper persons test is an utter joke... Administration will
hopefully give them a financial reset and the opportunity to
move forward with a decent owner. When AFCB went into
administration, the 2nd time, in 2008, Gerald Krasner was
fantastic and as administrator worked long and hard to find the
right new ownership to take the club forward. 7 years later we
debuted in the Premier League. In reality after the first
administration in Jan 1997, we limped along until the 2nd
administration - first time round we were literally 15 mins away
from liquidation. As a supporter and someone who worked at the
club on a voluntary basis to help keep it afloat it was
horrendous so I really do understand how the fans and staff feel
right now. I'm rooting for them to come out of this dreadful
period with a renewed energy and get back to where they belong.

I suppose it is a step forward, at least the present fiasco has
come to an end. I guess the ground is still owned by Chansiri
and so where they play has to be a question, a ground that needs
       investment by some accounts.
I do hope this is the start of a new beginning which will bring
success although there will be some pain to begin with.

According to the local paper, the company that owned the ground
has also gone into administration which means it could be sold
along with the club. That must be encouraging.
Sadly though, many people and local businesses will be owed
money which they won't get back. The HMRC also means you and me!

Sheffield 3 owned the ground, with the only director being
Chansiri, and they too have gone into administration. I suspect
it is this that has triggered the action rather then footballing
debts, he had taken out huge loans secured against the ground
and was unable to repay them, these were much more than the HMRC
       debt.
I think I can speak for most Wednesday fans in saying we are
ecstatic about this news, granted not the usual reaction for a
team deducted 12 points but it felt like the only way out. We
were effectively relegated anyway, aside from the mass exodus of
players there are also likely to be points deductions for the 6
       embargoes we are currently under.
The EFL and FA need to take this as a wake up call, just as they
did with Reading they just watched on and allowed things to
unravel without taking any action against the rogue owners.
This wasn't an isolated incident, the players and staff weren't
paid on time in 5 of the past 7 months, for the sanctioning
competition and the governing body to say there is nothing they
can do about this is beyond shocking.
