An eventful evening for the referee and team, including VAR,
with two penalties and a late red card, all correctly awarded
imo and all quickly confirmed by the VAR team. I only saw the
2nd half + highlights from the first and thought that Ms Caputi
did OK. At times, it all got a bit tetchy and I thought Caputi
struggled to keep a lid on it, but she was certainly not taken
in by the partisan support for both sides, and I think she can
be satisfied with her performance which may of course be her
last at this tournament, depending on results.

I saw the 2nd half and extra time, and thought that Ms Olofsson
had a good game. One to progress perhaps as Sweden are out of
the competition. I thought for one moment that the winning
penalty save by the German goalie was going to be ruled out as,
amidst the celebrations, Olofsson could be seen in earnest
conversation with someone, presumably Gillett. Thankfully
perhaps and correctly, the save was allowed to stand.

Interesting the 5th official (reserve AR) in the QF was from the
"Hungarian" trio. Probably confirming Kulcsar is still there.
Happy for her to do the other SF but maybe another "first shall
also be last"?

I’m happy with the officials but would rather have seen Dennis
Johan Higler as the main VAR I think he’s one of if not the best
at it though no doubt others will disagree

The appointment is possibly even less surprising than tomorrow
will be a Friday. I have never quite appreciated the brilliance
of Frappart but I hope she and her team have a good match.
