I did a couple of 4th Officials for Uriah way back and was very
impressed with him. He was commanding on the pitch and had the
respect of the players.

I am saddened to learn of Uriah Rennie's passing and I too send
condolences to his family and friends. I had the privilege of
meeting him once and could only describe him as utterly
charming. He took a great interest in people and was hugely
respected in his home city of Sheffield and beyond for his
service to the community as a magistrate and in the field of
education as well as sport.
A very fine referee whose somewhat idiosyncratic style ( he was
the very antithesis on a manufactured referee ) probably
prevented him from getting to the very pinnacle of an
officiating career. Taken too young, may he run out on to the
manicured pitches of the next world.
