First 4 Champions league fixtures Aston Villa had the following
prem league record
Played 4
Won 0
Drew 2
Lost 2
Had any of those been a win, Sunday was redundant

similar number in the championship. One of those games was
Villa’s visit to Southampton when Emery made no complaint about
his lack of experience. In fact the ref gave Villa 2 penalties,
both of which they missed!

thanks in part to the failure of the goal line technology
denying Sheffield United a goal which meant Villa drew the game.
I don’t recall the club expressing any desire to have Sheffield
awarded a goal!

Sunday WILL cost Villa millions is, with respect, daft. Bearing
in mind that Villa had one shot on target in the game to Man
United’s 10, there is absolutely no guarantee Villa would have
held out for the rest of the game.

It was AFCB who were relegated as a result of that failure
(alongside not being good enough across the season) but it was
the final nail in the coffin so to speak as Villa ended up with
1 point more than us. No appeal was made, no tantrums had.

Another quote from Hackett today…
“This guy’s adrift of play and he makes a guess. You say to
referees, do not guess.”
I find it remarkable that someone of the physique in the past of
Hackett could criticise the speed of Bramall and for being too
far away…
I’ve seen Bramall live first hand at Fulham and by heck he can
move when the need arises. One of the quickest I’ve seen in
recent years.
Compare that to Hackett, who was a pedestrian official who
slowly jogged around the pitch….

I believe the best thing we could do on this forum is not even
discuss the thoughts Mr Hackett offers. Some people are best
completely ignored.

At his best Hackett could raise a trundle but he wasn't very
often at his best very often as I recall
