Re: Tom Bramall- Man City vs Bournemouth

I noticed a post that said Tom Bramall is 35 years old and that
led me to wondering, is there a chance that he could get a white
badge? Or has his time passed for that.
As others have said, he seems to have been very underused this
season and it feels like he’s always had positive feedback on
here. His recent good appointments (LIV v TOT, MCI v BOU, MUN v
AVL) have been more than justified. He has been a SG1 referee
since 2022 so I believe he could get a white badge if the
opportunity arrives.
Maybe I’m being a bit too reactionary to his good performances
of late but with more good appointments next year, there’s no
doubt in my mind that he could become a top, top official.

I believe you have to have been nominated for FIFA on or before
your 33rd (or is it 32nd) birthdays.
Daft I know but guessing FIFA wants 12 to 15 years to allow
development
So unluckily I think he's too old
Ironically of course assuming marks and fitness he could go on
to do 20+ more years on the PL

looked at an image which led the reviewers and DG to believe
this was not true, but looking at that image it looks very much
as if Haarland's boot was angled before Henderson got a touch
and that he was looking to move the ball AWAY from goal. This is
consistent with what VAR felt. Lobbing the keeper or moving the
ball towards goal doesn't appear to be what Haarland intended to
do!

Well I would certainly challenge the view that any touch Haaland
might have had moved the ball significantly away from goal.
Harland’s foot was moving largely upwards not towards the side
whilst Henderson’s arm was moving horizontally taking the ball
away to the side. Also the hand contact was very close to
Harland’s foot so irrespective of whether Haarland touched it or
not (and personally I’m not sure whether he did or not) by far
the major movement came from Henderson’s hand.
Yesterday’s news? Maybe but it shows that VAR is not fulfilling
its purpose or potential due to a secretive and largely
unaccountable operating protocol. That should be a cause for
concern, irrespective of this individual outcome.

Apparently the age limits were removed in 2015

[quote]FIFA: No more age limits for international referees
FIFA’s decision to eliminate the age limits for international
referees has been confirmed by the Circular no. 1497, recently
sent to all national associations. There will be no more maximum
age for first time nominations (38) and no more retirement age
(45). In order to be nominated for the 2016 list, referees must
be born no later than 1990 and assistant referees must be born
no later than 1992 in order to ensure a minimum level of
experience. FIFA reserves the right to require referees over the
age of 45 (born in 1971 or before) to undergo additional
technical assessments as well as specific medical examinations
and fitness testing on a case-by-case basis. Each candidate must
be ranked based on the marks obtained for officiating games at
the national level during the 12 months prior to being nominated
to the list of international referees, not in alphabetical
order. At a minimum, all nominated referees must pass a
FIFA-approved fitness test and a medical examination on or after
18 June 2015. The deadline to nominate international referees
for the upcoming year is 18 October 2015./quote]

That's the situation as I remember it. I wonder whether RCG has

Not sure how it can be said to be secretive or unaccountable.
It certainly was under Riley's charge, but we now have decisions
explained with the actual audio, and if they get it wrong they
say as much. If they were allowed to they would broadcast the
audio live, but IFAB won't let them.

Sorry, must have missed the recording from this incident,
perhaps it was shown alongside Mr Webb’s apology?

I meant generally. Given this wasn't a PGMOL appointment I very
much doubt the head of PGMOL would apologise.

That doesn't state that they appoint for FA Cup games. They
don't. that is done by the FA, and that is why PGMOL won't be
commenting on any FA Cup final decisions.
