One of those games where it's a reminder of how much we have
over achieved under Iraola. A few of our players need to take a
look in the mirror and then read up on professionalism as they
were not just on the beach already but snoozing in their
deckchairs.

No mention of him in yellow? 😛

I don't have anything else to add than what has already been
said really. I've been very impressed by what I have seen of
Tom, and this morning was no exception.
If I was told to watch two games not knowing them, and that one
was given on merit for the FA Cup Final, and one was a
relatively new SG referee, I would've chosen Tom's performance
as being the FA Cup Final one.

Yes we probably won’t see Bramall again in the premier league
for another 2 months (excluding summer) because it seems the
advice from those in charge - keeping 22 men on the pitch no
matter what - didn’t get through to him…

Excellent performance by Bramhall and his team what made the RC
a even better decision was the fact Bramhall was very close to
the incident and he identified it as SFP , we have seen some
referees miss SFP incidents without an OFR and /or because they
were to close to the action

First and foremost Brammall was excellent. Why he has only had
23 games this season, only 10 of those in the PL, is ridiculous,
far better than many of his peers.
As a City fan no problems with the Kovacic red but it does leave
me asking why this was deemed the correct decision, although
quite some way from goal and with the possibility of defenders
covering, while Hendersons hand ball on the edge of the area and
with him as last man, was deemed not. (No bitterness here
either, if we had played all night I’m not sure City would have
scored). Also if it wasn’t deemed a red then surely it should
have been a yellow and a free kick to City on the edge of the
area? Or am I missing something in the LOAF? Can anyone explain
the logic behind this please, if indeed logic there be.
Finally KDB, what a player! When I was a kid my granddad and
father used to talk about players of their generation and drool
over the likes of Matthews, Finney, Mortenson etc and tell me
how lucky they were to see such great players. I now look
forward to telling my own grandkids in due course that I was
fortunate, nay privileged, to see one of the greatest players of
his time, in one of the greatest teams of all time, plying his
trade with skill and grace. Thankyou KDB from a grateful
admirer.

Prety much agree with comments above re: red cards. I called
both of them right away.
The Kovatic DOGSO was remarkably similar to the Saliba on
Evanilson incident at our place back in the autumn.
I know Iraola said Cook's red wasn't correct, but I don't agree.
If we appeal it, it won't get overturned meanign Cook will miss
the first 2 games of next season as well.

That worked well pgmol must be reading as we now have Thomas at
Old Trafford for the final game, a great appointment for him
well done.

Let me try my explanation for nothing being given for the
Henderson handball, based on what I have read on here..
Let's make the reasonable assumption that neither the referee
nor assistant saw the handball. In VAR terms that could be
either a "clear and obvious error" or possibly a "serious missed
incident" - I haven't a clue what the difference is or whether
they are treated differently by VAR.
Normally the criterion seems to be "clear and obvious error".
Now contrary to the IFAB protocol the English protocol does not
allow VAR to communicate with the on-field referee other than to
say they are looking at an issue so that the referee can stop
the game at an appropriate moment. VAR can listen to the
on-field coms, but apparently not engage in dialogue until they
have come to a decision whether to ask the referee to review the
decision or to say no action is needed.
VAR can only ask the referee to review the decision if they tell
him that they believe a clear and obvious error has occurred.
In other words VAR cannot, apparently, ask the referee how the
on field decision was arrived at.
So in this case VAR saw that the handball had occurred outside
the penalty area, not disputed. They then took, what to me, is
a subjective decision that it was not a denial of an obvious
goal scoring opportunity. The basis of this decision was that
the play was moving away from goal. The normally (in my eyes)
decision friendly Dermot Gallagher rubbished this explanation on
the basis that play only moved away from goal because Henderson
had swatted it towards the corner flag. Now I'm told in these
pages that the VAR can only give a binary decision to the
referee. Either "take no further action" or "we think it is a
red card and you should go to the monitor to review it". In
this case because they thought that play was moving away from
goal their instruction was "no further action should be taken".
That appears to be how the decision was arrived at.

I agree with Microscopist and his understanding is much the
same as mine. Is Haarland moving away from goal? Ref Watch
looked at an image which led the reviewers and DG to believe
this was not true, but looking at that image it looks very much
as if Haarland's boot was angled before Henderson got a touch
and that he was looking to move the ball AWAY from goal. This is
consistent with what VAR felt. Lobbing the keeper or moving the
ball towards goal doesn't appear to be what Haarland intended to
do!
All yesterday's news now but Henderson was very, very fortunate.
