Thought Brooks was overly lenient with his cards, Caicedo made
at least 4 fouls at least one of which was a yellow card worthy
but wasnt even booked for an accumilation of fouls he was just
allowed to continue all game.
Didnt think Brooks was at his best today IMO

That was certainly the opinion on TalkSport that they'd seen him
have better games

Keith Hackett, as always, has had something to say. He is
apparently questioning whether John Brooks is up to the
requirements of being a PL official and says he always sits on
the fence

Not sure how he can have been asking himself this in recent
weeks since John hasn't had a game in over a month (and the
general consensus was he did very well in his last match - the
Manchester derby).

The potential penalty on Fernandes has been somewhat ignored.
Guimaraes had him in a bear hug as the ball came over from a
corner.

That's a load of absolute ponce, Brooks I'd argue is the referee
who sits on the fence the least out of all of them! Hackett
clearly continuing his battle with Small Man Syndrome.

At least it remains consistent with what we’ve seen throughout
the season. How Brentford didn’t get any penalties through
holding was baffling. Can’t blame inconsistency with these
decisions

But there have been penalties given for holding - and much
softer ones than the ones you refer to. It feels like it's
entirely down to luck as to whether it gets given.
I think something needs to be done with corners / free kicks
now. It takes too long to take them (maybe a countdown set to 5
seconds?) which further encourages holding and grappling before
the ball is played.

Agreed. Brooks may not have been at his best yesterday but he
has had a very good season and remains one of our top officials.
I wonder if anyone else was at the infamous Utd v Arsenal game
in 1990 when both sides were docked points after an on-field
fracas? I was - my only ever visit to OT as we were hosting a
German visitor who wanted to see an English match. The referee
was hopeless that day and lost complete control and respect from
both sets of players. His name was Keith Hackett

I'd be worried for the fence if Hackett sat on it!
